One thing bothers me. How did they get that thing down in such perfect condition? Did it glide down? How did it land with no scratches? Did they use a giant fishing net? Puzzling.

IT'''s ME, quote: "You even in Japan or got a kid here? You are way off the mark here. The local kids would fight tooth and nail if they were confronted with such a person. I spoke to my son 11 and he said he would ring the bell and ask for his ball as would all his friends. Yes, he is taught to back off and not to make a situation worse."
Erm... ring the bell? Ball? Not quite sure which story you are referring to, but the answer to your first question is yes and yes.
Plus I have spent many happy hours watching the arguments go round and round in faculty meetings over the rights and wrongs of hitting back. If you hit back, you're stuffed, is the plain message I learnt there. Maybe as a kid, though, anything goes.

Without meaning to be offensive or vulgar, I cannot sympathize with this woman or her daughter.
I feel sorry that these dogs, after such a harsh life, will now have to pay a heavier penalty for the misdeeds of their abusers.

STABLE. From "Tepco's New Dictionary of Definitions, 2011"
Stable (adj.), meaning 1. cold (= 99 degrees or less, ie scalding is fine, but up there no bubbling in those empty reactor vessels) 2. leaking less radiation (well, less than in those months of outrageous off-the-charts unprecedented earlier leakages). Rocking and rolling with aftershocks? Acceptable within our definition of stable. 200 tons of lava-like corium oozing around eating away the floors of the basements and fast approaching the outer and final containment walls? Not a problem. cf famous proverbs. Eg "Stable as a three-legged table," etc.

Kids here are taught not to lift a finger to fight back. (They are then morally untouchable.)
If the kid had reacted, the law would probably be charging him with something too.

No problems, here. Move along folks.
They already conducted those stress tests, and nothing abnormal was found.

How can Standard & Poor's be allowed rule the world with letters of the alphabet like this? How can we trust their neutrality to make such life and death decisions? Are they the only thing we can now trust in this shifting uncertain world? Who rates Standard & Poor's?

I see in today's news there have been more knife attacks and more sightings of a young man dressed in black.
Copycat?

Also, quote: "Insulting companions of the Prophet Mohammed"?

Yes, agreed with MasterBape above. Tepco need(ed) to be aware of any gutters leading to the sea.
Actually I read in the news that they found the gutter dry with low levels of radioactivity, whereas the sea beyond the pipe had higher levels. This suggests the water must have flowed under or around the gutter in some way.

He was carrying both a folding knife and a kind of heavy bladed chopper. The cops found 20 knives at his house. The school reported he brought animal parts sometimes. He stabbed the 8 yr old several times and one stab punctured her lung. Minor crime?

Hmmm... this one caught my eye.
Not sure if this is the best way to say it, but their message needs hearing. France has a tendency to over-confidence. Hope the French authorities will take this chance to not only improve perimeter security, but much more importantly to put plant operating safety first.
Next time something goes wrong (many incidents so far) and if it is a more serious leakage issue, the rest of NE Europe will probably have to suffer the consequences.

Many possibilities here. The cops will be wanting to know for example, if he is confessing to something he didn't actually do. He himself could be the would-be copy-cat.
A poster commented above that the parents are probably mental too. In my experience some children are born with problems, and despite the parents best efforts, it goes deeper than anything that they can do in their anguish.
Allow me to say a good word for the police here. Thank you for being there and doing your best in this instance.

Remember this is the place where people traditionally sweep up leaves in the fall/autumn. More leaves cover the ground every time the wind blows, but out they go again. Morning after morning they are out there sweeping up leaves with little brooms, to Western eyes surely an excercise in futility.
Everyone seems happy, and the shrines and temples do actually appear clean. (Apart from a few scattered leaves...)
So if they are going to start feeding junk into a giant laundromat, then perhaps step by step we will eventually reach Rome.

VicMOsaka, yes, the Stuxnet virus damage has been reported widely, but is this not the first time that a similar virus has been reported within Japan's nuclear power industry? Viruses have been discovered fairly recently at IHI and Mitsubishi for example.
The article in the Shukan Post yesterday mentioned two countries by name, but did not mention or even hint at Israel, It gave no reason for such an attack. Funnily enough, what you say makes better sense, though.
When you say 'it' blew up, are you referring to the reactor and/or the camera that you say Magna BSP installed? (No 3 reactor is the one that had MOX with plutonium in it, I seem to recall.)

Actually in the news today I see that many people with courage in Tunisia are standing up to the fundamentalists and refusing to back down in the face of Islamist ultra-conservative demands. (F-M segregation and wearing of veils in university classrooms, etc.)
There is quite a strong backlash with demonstrations in support of freedoms which they have won and treasure. People in Egypt and Libya are said to be watching events there closely.
