Happens all the time in Japan, from what I've heard and seen on the news. Tire/tyre slashing is actually quite common. Dead of night. (Paint scratching is another way to take out your frustrations with life.) You do sometimes see on TV individuals getting caught after the intallation of a surveillance camera. They usually have some secret agenda to justify it.

WilliB "Doesn´t matter. Jihadist are not afraid to die, because they go to muslim paradise."
I let this go first time around as I didn't want to appear pedantic, but it needs rephrasing. "Jihadists are not afraid to die, because they believe that they go to a Muslim paradise." Because the Mullahs have told them that this is so.
And in your comment above to Ossan, WilliB, "Are your lives worth more than someone in China?" you are missing his point completely, either deliberately or by mistake. His comment has nothing to do with the relative values of people's lives.

Can't say anything specific or I'll get moderated again, but it strikes me that the latest terrorist attacks are taking ideas from events that have grabbed the biggest headlines in recent weeks. Driving a truck into a place where a known body of people will be, jumping out and knifing some of them, ...
Hate to think what they'll come up with next.

Is the title really apt? (un-American vs non-American...)
Burning the flag is being un-American and unpatriotic, surely.
Not being American, = being non-American??? would be the advantage here?

“We tell the enemies of God that God has saved those who will be even more painful for you,” it said. “As Abu Khabab has gone, he left behind, with God’s grace, a generation of faithful students who will make you suffer the worst torture and avenge him and his brothers.”
Look at this statement. It is 'good' in the sense that they really know how to use propaganda to capture fresh recruits. Into the net they swim, and then a violent twisting takes place until the recruit is too terrified not to obey.
How is it, that the normal human world rarely has anything effective to say in response?
It is a complete lie, of course, because it starts from the supposition that they are the friends of God, which they are obviously and blatantly not. They act as if they have a right to talk about God's grace, which they cannot ever have experienced. The word God is cynically used for political ends, and it assumes that God doesn't actually exist. (Otherwise they would be in deep trouble for what they are doing in the name of God.) Since when does God enjoy torturing people? God is merely a useful concept to an end. An easily-gabbled word. A very dangerous game in which black is openly and loudly declared white, and no one has the courage to squeak back. The Emperor's New Clothes indeed. And thousands of people continue suffer and die daily as a result of the policies of these manipulators.

The perp was 40 and the passenger (described in one news source as 'aboriginal', whatever that means) was around 19-20.

frontandcentre, maybe you feel you can ask people to turn down their music, but no one in a bus, train or underground in London for example would dare. Some people are seething with anger and would love to ask others politely to turn it down, but afraid of what might happen in return.
I can see this guy deciding to act on his basic instincts and smiling as he does it. "Look folks, I have the ba11s to do something about it!" Perhaps fuelled by something his psychiatrist is trying out on him, or has just stopped.

Kill six more? He was probably just fed up with the guy's headphone music which was leaking out all over the bus even though he was asleep anyway. Why would he want to kill anyone else?

Freedom? Hello?
China is one of the free-est countries I have ever visited. That's why the central government keeps trying to crack down. It's mostly out of control. You can do or say pretty much anything you like, as long as you don't put anti-govt sentiment in writing. Then they nail your asp asap.
Anyway, that kind of message would be like flying to the USA and urging freedon for Hawaii and the Hawaiian people. P1ss everyone off instantly!
Genuine autonomy for the Autonomous Regions. Now that would make more sense and has a better ring to it.

WilliB, this may be true, but for India today there are Hindus just waiting for any opportunity to attack mostly innocent Muslim communities. It has happened again and again. Did you see the film/movie Gandhi? Once they attack, the Muslim communities have to defend themselves. Horrible things start to happen. The BIG PROBLEM is how to calm everyone down, put a stop to the tit-for-tat riots and maintain a mutli-ethnic society. There are small cells on both sides, Hindus and Muslims, who are not above killing their own people in order to create a pretext for starting the ethnic cleansing again. Many Hindus would like to kick the remaining Muslims out of India. Some Muslim leaders are just waiting for such a thing to happen so they can make more DVDs proving that Muslims are discriminated against all over the world, and recruit more young impressionable 'fighters' or suicide bombers.
This is why the leaders of India are appealing for calm now and the use of reason over emotion.

adaydream I think you mean 'band' together? And how can the Middle Eastern countries banding together prevent very similar bombings in India and China and the Philippines and Indonesia and Europe? Are you guggesting that Middle Eastern countries are offering sanctuary to the perpetrators of these atrocities against the one God's gentle and struggling humanity?

I read a long report not too long ago of blocked drains on Qantas 747s. Something about the stewardesses pouring the coffee ground etc. down the sinks when they clean up. This has caused considerable seepage and leakage and wet floors down below the galleys, so corrosion would have to be a factor to consider, even if the investigators conclude that it did not apply here.

rajakumar I like what you said above: "The danger in India is not different faiths but ignorance of groups of people about faith."
Yes, and some people use this ignorance to their selfish and despicable advantage, in the name of faith. This leads to death and unimaginable suffering. Disgusting.
Can the people remain calm in the face of every insult? This is the big question. I certainly hope they can.

Not good for most good people, rajakumar. And especially in India right now.
But this IS good for a small minority with a vicious agenda, killing people discriminately (the more outrageous and horrifying the better) in the belief that it will achieve a better world in the future for the unquestioning believers.

The photos of the ripped-open bus look very similar to the state of the buses in Yunnan, China the other day.
It feels like the same broad movement is behind both sets of attacks. Someone wants to stir things up and cause an angry backlash so that they can show evidence of oppression and thus gain support for new propagation. These people have devoted time and thought to creating viable timed exlosive devices.
