    Lots of unanswered questions;

What was the content of the DVD; photos, video, what was the girl actually doing, was it just a DVD of files or was there a menu etc (which if present, would hint at the influence of others in the production), etc...

Nah man, IBM is the daddy. If there were no IBM, you would not be posting on the internet today.

"What now minors are compared to "game"; like deer are "game" for hunters in deers season?!!

Believe it varies by prefecture; however child protection laws set the age at 18 -unless you got parental permission and were allowed to marry."

Fair game, as in allowed to be amorously pursued with a view to courtship, not hunted like an animal, obviously.

As a British citizen, I legally and morally consider 16 to be an acceptable age for sexual relations, so for a man to be charged for something like this when the girl is 16 seems wrong to me.

Had he kidnapped the girl, then yeah, prosecute, but if she went of her own free will, I see know problem. The age gap is a bit of an issue, and does seem to point at the fact that the guy may be a little on the immature / odd side, but from the perspective of this situation being a crime, I think that is overkill.

Would have been better if it was the same shape but made out of white powder.

Why can't they make a real ice rink?

If they can do it in Sheffield, UK, they can certainly do it in Japan.

Japan must be the only country in the world to still use dubbing on major releases like this.

Surely anybody with half an ounce of taste and a genuine interest in the arts would accept nothing less than peer-edited subtitles.

    Oh wait...

I ride at least 50km a day here, in Tokyo and Saitama, and I can say with absolute assurance, that the drivers, cyclists and pedestrians in this country do not have a f-ing clue what they are doing.

Daily, I am cut up, denied right of way, pulled out on, etc etc. About once every few weeks, I will be involved in an incident, which requires stopping, checking limbs and exchanging insurance details, and I ride 100% within the confines of the law, and totally passively.

They just don't have a clue.

Girls putting make-up on, on the train, or anywhere for that matter, is hot and you know it. The people disagreeing are obviously further down the hot-ladder than the smoking mamas who frequent the trains in Japan.

Yeah, an MBA is decent if you are already managing your own company, and want some genuine knowledge and skill enhancement of your existing skills, but to jump onto one from working in McDonalds seems foolish, if only for the financial out-lay.

If a person wants extra qualifications that they can actually use, they should get something more specific, and modular, like a few Microsoft qualifications and an Oracle certificate. Way more useful at the moment, will take less time and effort, costs less, and is directly applicable to market demand. The MBA can get bolted on to that lot if, and when, the mid-management positions with genuine opportunity for growth start opening up.

There ARE big fines for running reds.

My girlfriend got stung with a 400,000yen fine a few months ago, and she wasn't even involved in a direct collision.

Yeah, recently I mentioned to one of my Japanese friends here that I knew a mental health care worker (who is also Japanese).

Honestly, I have had about 11 people email my phone asking for an introduction to this guy. I replied at first with the comment 'Surely you have a greater ability to sort this out in your own country in your own language, why are you turning to a foreigner for help?', but then I realised that anything even slightly like a weakness in Japan is a massive taboo, so I did my best to help out. Shocking how many people, even in my reasonably sized social circle are hiding serious mental issues. Sad.

There must be a giant, giant depression rate here if it was ever allowed to be measured...

    Scary.

Haha, I love your venom, northlondon. Looking forward to more, as this whole thing unveils.

The family seem to have stuck together very well over this, and I respect them for that.
