I wonder if these are the same people who protest and want the US bases out of Japan.

"...Man's got to have one day to remember before the furry slippers and hello kitty aprons come out after the big day..."

I don't see any problem with my girlfriend wearing only furry slippers and a hello kitty apron.

Not to be confused with the Medal of Honor which is given out by the military.

A Congressional Gold Medal is an award bestowed by the United States Congress and is, along with the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Presidential Citizens Medal the highest civilian award in the United States. The decoration is awarded to an individual who performs an outstanding deed or act of service to the security, prosperity, and national interest of the United States. American citizenship is not a requirement.

    From Wikipedia.

The police station does not have caller ID on their phones? I doubt he could call from 2100 different phone numbers.

    "It's Waipio not Waipahu..."

    Wrong! It's Waipahu.

@roomtemperature - you better call Staradvertiser and let them know that they got it wrong.

    Congrats to the champs!

JT: It's Waipio not Waipahu and the fans from Hawaii waved Ti leaves, not tea leaves. Thanks.

    From AFP:

"...Commandos fired dozens of bullets into the bus and smashed its windows with sledgehammers as they tried to storm it, but were then forced to wait outside helplessly for over an hour as the hijacker used his captives as human shields.....Aquino acknowledged in a pre-dawn press conference that the tragedy highlighted many flaws in the ability of Philippine security forces to handle hostage situations.....One of the problems he emphasised was the way the crisis played out through the media, with the gunman allowed to speak on radio and watch events live on the bus's television, giving him insights into police actions..."

    RIP everyone.

"At that time of the day/early evening (6:40 PM) with the sun in your eyes, seeing clearly can be a challenge."

In August, the sun doesn't set until after 8:00 p.m. in that part of the U.S.

It's easy to doze off on those straight and wide interstate highways because it can get really boring.

RIP to the deceased and hope for quick recoveries for the injured.
