Beware, boys and girls, the rest of the world will suffer the same fate. You want something for nothing, Obamacare, tax everybody, distribute the wealth, that's what you get!

So how does this work? Is this lottery staged by federal government? so after somebody wins, they turn around and take half of the prize? Classy, America, real classy....

Why doesn't Bianchi make the bikes in Italy? Jobless rate among young people there is nearly 30 percent, and the country is filled with third-world immigrants eager to work for low wages.

They do. Parts are made elsewhere. Pretty common practice these days

Poor guy, message for all to avoid those garbage, death trap Bianchi bikes. That money is basically pocket money and will be lucky to support him for five years.

Huh? 2 million dollars is pocket money? Are you reading this right? This is huge amount of money, which I seriously doubt the importer will be able to pay. They will have to involve suspension and bike makers to settle this.

I am sorry, but an amateur video should not be an evidence for speeding conviction. Is there enough proof that the video was not fabricated in any way? I am sorry, you are the same bunch of people that scream that Japan's justice system is corrupt, well, here is a classic example, is it not! He turns out to be guilty and will not have a chance to be proven innocent.

In reality speeding conviction should only be reached by use of authorized equipment monitored and reported by authorized police personnel.

Finally, the low life bottom feeding snitch that called the cops, what did he get in return? I hope that his private info gets leaked and he would get what he deserved. There is no place for snitches in this world.

This is not even the question of whether Afganistan or any other developing country deserves or needs the money, nor it is the question how the population of such country would benefit.

The real question is how and and on what constitutional grounds can Japanese government take the hard earned tax payers money and just give it away to other countries?
Under what moral grounds can Japan have 200% debt to GDP ratio, which is potentioally geopardizing pension and health insurance benefits and still cash out to all these 3rd world countries?

DebuchoJul. 09, 2012 - 08:22AM JST The operation was great, even though almost no news outlets here reported about it.

This is such a load of crap! You must have watche the news with your TV off! It was all over the air. continuous footage with US marines sailing through flooded towns looking for survibors, setting up camps and field hospitals. thousands of interviews with the teams and the citizens. To alow this operation was by far the best decision by Japanese government in last 20 years.

They should just let private companies handle it. until 20th century all railways in US were privately owned and they were the envy of the world. Look at them now.

Fyi, Japanese railways are partially owned by private companies... and they are the envy of the world..

At this moment the islands are Russian terriotory. Japanese gov have no say in what part of the country Russian prime minister chooses to go to.

Russians don't get upset every time Noda goes to Okinawa, do they? so why should the Japanese.

    this is absurd.

Is he willing to put this in writing?
He should be losing his job after saying crap like this..

All these new officials who he addressing were probably standing there "hai! hai! hai! hai!" . Instead of forming a union at taking this lunatic out to woodshed.

Wind depends on... well, wind; solar is more reliable but still very inefficient; geothermal seems to be a good alternative for Japan; wave generators have their quirks; etc. Maybe someday Japan will be able to get 30% of its juice from renewables, i hope so - but not yet. So make sure security protocols are followed to the letter, that there are no money shortcuts, turn 'em back on and carry on living, while investigating better alternatives

Finally, some common sense around here...

Look into Germany? 30% from renewable, abandoning nuclear, reducing CO2. Need I go on?

First of all, it's 20%, second, the problem with currently developed renewable energy sources is that they require massive land masses, which Japan doesn't have. Japan is an overpopulated island with lots of mountains.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for renewable energy, but you have to be realistic. It won't be switched on overnight. For now, I can only see a deal with government, electric companies and home owners, so all privately owned homes are equipped with solar panels on their roofs and sell their excess power back... if this is done in large scale, some of the energy deficit may be covered.

This is beyond stupid. Noda and all the rest of useless politicians can raise taxes all they want, but it won't bring any positive results and will cripple the weak economy even further. What they need to do is to create a viable and attractive business environment to lure foreign investors and corporations. They need qualified foreign immigrants and this is the only way you do this. Here is how it needs to be done: Lower all business taxes, profit taxes, and so on

    • Remove regulations
    • Get rid of property tax in areas outside Tokyo
    • Fukushima and nearby areas are to have zero tax policy and to have gambling allowed.
    • Immigration laws to be rewritten to attract young workers.
    • Japan is to join TPP and other similar agreements.
    • Subsidized farming is to stop

    It saved lives?

How many people do you think would die from heat stroke in trains or public places without airconditioning? Do you think acid rain from coal power plants or smog from oil or gas plants is good for your health?

    Renewable energy my friend.

where is it? does it work? is it practical? is it affordable? I mean, I fantasize about having sex with Mesa Kuroki, but it doesn't mean that I should concentrate my life and stop having sex with my wife until i reach that goal, does it?
