The JT got it wrong. An-24 is a small prop plane. This is An-124

The Antonov An-124 Ruslan (Ukrainian and Russian: Антонов Ан-124 «Руслан») (NATO reporting name: Condor) is a strategic airlift jet aircraft. It was designed by the Soviet Union's Antonov design bureau. It is the world's largest ever serially-manufactured cargo airplane and world's second largest operating cargo aircraft.

The largest cargo plane is An-225 Mria. It's in operation but never mass produced.

The only way to get this country back on track is to resume business as normal. I am off to onsen next week!

I am not sure if they will be built in the same locations, but I just hope whatever they build will be built from reinforced concrete! No more wooden crap please!

I want to see more of Sendai. It took a hell of a shake and apparently is still there. I want to see what survived.

Yeah, its true and yeah many Japanese are worried. My Japanese wife is flipping out. Doesn't want to feed kids fish until she knows where and when they are fished.

At least that's an educated concern. Considering that North-East fishing industry is gone, most fish would be coming in from elsewhere.

Sorry Cleo, but you have failed to back up your arguments with facts. You remarks do not have any credibility. you just proved my argument. liberal agenda is based on what you mentioned in your post: wood and animal dung.

To get back on subject: Fukushima is not indicator of bad technology. it's an indicator of poor execution. There were 5 plants which got struck and 2 in fukushima are in trouble. One other plant is actually a shelter now. because everything else got wiped out and it's still standing.

Bottom line, there is technology out there to make these plants safer and more efficient. Cooling systems can be more robust, there are many more fail safe systems they can implement, and finally thorium is a material that can be used instead of plutonium for its efficiency and inability to melt down.

We should all do some reading and try to understand what's good or not, instead of just running around yapping about stuff we know nothing about.

If the liberals didn't insist on spoon-feeding the useless from our taxes, human survival rate would have been a lotlower. if there were only a couple of billion of us on the planet, maybe we wouldn't have need all those nuclar plants anyway.

but since you choose to take our taxes and help the useless reproduce beyond control, it just happens that they need electricity and all other resources as well. So there, we have to satisfy everybody's needs and build nuke plants.

Liberals, and tree huggers, here is a paradox for you: if you want to preserve natural resources and stop nuclear power, here is a message: DON'T FEED THE BIRDS!! Go and think about it!

Meanwhile we do have nuclear plants, and they are the best form of energy generation now. it has been scientifically proven, yet liberals just choose to push their agenda, which is based on NOTHING! For Pete's sake, can someone pass the law indicating that morons can't affect decisions on infrastructure?

    imomofo,

Nuclear Power? Cold War? Pleeeease! stop posting rubbish. Let me ask you this: how much do you hate environment and polar bears that you oppose nuclear energy to such extent?

    Mod, nice comment!

Build from concrete! There would be some damage, but people would survive! ban wooden constructions in coastal areas! They are a bloody hazard!

Wind farms is a great idea. Seriously at times like this, who cares about damn sea birds?

Horrible, absolutely horrible. My heart goes out to all people who suffered in this devastating act of nature. But is there something we can learn from it as we rebuild this region? As much as I hate government regulations, they seem to work when it comes to earthquake resistant constructions. Going forward we all could benefit from a new law banning wooden constructions within certain proximity of a coastal area. A solid concrete structure would not only have higher chances of withstanding a large tsunami while housing survivors on top floors, it would also help break the destructive force of these waves preventing them to spread as far as they did this time. Please Japan, learn from this experience, don't repeat past mistakes! I beg you!

So when the big one hits Okinawa, I'm going to the bank!

Never know what doors may open for you.

More likely collapsed sealing, but anyway. Don't blame whoever did this. Bank was probably going to sign it off anyways as the whole area was destroyed.
