How could someone live for several years without a salary? That's a bit of a stretch. As for teaching, salary's hover around 200,000 which is lower than the Japanese working Poor. I think Interact even has 170,000 yen in some places. Teaching is a good profession, but it is not paid unless you work for JET (The government directly) and/or a University (which by law outsource companies are not allowed to do business.) That said, teaching is a life style here. Freedom. Often not very long hours. And let's not forget the women. I did it before and while I was sitting at a coffee shop learning Japanese on my free time, the foreign company workers would walk by in their dark suits walking (to an almost run) to their next meeting. While they make a ton more, at the time it was nice to party. University gigs are the best. 4 months off a year paid and salary's are actually pretty good. (no outsource companies) If you worked a part-time job in the off months, you would make almost as much as an expat. It is the outsource companies that have made teaching in Japan a shameful job. The charge their customers "schools" 350,000 yen to 400,000 yen and pay their staff often 1/2. It is a scam because they promise their customers the best, but who works for that. Global Partners a long time ago hired me for a job. The school came to me directly and asked me what they were paying. It was 1/2. The school was very upset that they would take so much and understood why I would bolt out the door at the last bell. Found out later that working for them was a visa violation. It is illegal for Humanities visa holders to work for an outsource company and/or for yourself. So 99% of these companies are breaking the law. Anyway, teaching is honorable but to teach you need to have experience and education. Most of which is not in this field here. Even this guy admits he didn't have any background in it. i.e. Japanese can't understand English and the reputation is low.

Paying 420 yen for a bank transfer (with no human input) or charging 240 yen for branch to branch transfer is crazy! Banking in Japan is 3rd world. 1. teller windows close at 3pm. 2. Transfer, deposit service stops at 6pm and not available on the weekends. 3. Every 3rd Saturday evening ALL ATM's being turned off... reason and I quote "The machines need to rest." 4. Closing ATM's over most national holidays. ......... and wonder why they make a profit. Crazy 3rd world system here.

Haven't found anyone to beat DNP Printing prices. I don't think this company has any value. Direct is always cheaper.

The last comment about normal phones is simply STUPID As for the problems with the young, it all started with the old. Acting like you are working, while you are just surfing porn, drinking with friends, etc. while avoiding home responsibilities is exactly what you get out of these young, weak minded youth who have learned to do no more than the video training session says.

Gates? how about escalators in Shinjuku station so that we can easily travel. Carrying full bags up flights and flights of stairs just sucks. Safety cameras... who is watching? how many does 1 person watch at a time? Sounds like the police are giving some good bonus money to their friends security company. Was there an open bid? Where companies given the opportunity to bid on these projects? Seeing they are the police, I'm sure that the mafia here had their hands in it. Setting up the cameras in places to not interfere with the legitimate Japanese mafia activities.

Their greed has kept them from fixing the problem for years and it all could have been solved with a postage size piece of medal? This is really fishy? What about the India recall based on faulty electric windows. Is that a problem in the US?

Why would Chinese companies bother with "US Patent and Trademark Office?" Doesn't China have their own system? That said, are you telling me that one of the largest countries in the world holds less patent's than Korea? Find a lot of potential for error in that post. As for Japan, people have been looking for years reasons to dump the Japanese products. America built this economy during the Vietnam war and now the US economy is in trouble. Everything is up to the US. And in this round of who's who... China is the far winner. Sorry Japan and the Japanese, you can't compete. Tax laws, Company regulations, Visa issues for foreign staff, and TAXES again, and not speaking a recognized business language, sends all the foreign talent else where. Singapore is the place to be right now in Asia. All of the above "very low" and Singapore really wants talent. They want people to come and make Singapore a better place to live. Welcoming different cultures and not demanding you change to fit in. As they respect difference. And Singapore is the spring board for China. Other countries in Asia are improving. Japan is still sticking their heads in the sand and hording the money they already have. Once that money reserve is gone, 3rd world country here they go. (or the next big one in Tokyo, which ever comes first.)

JapaHaYn worked in the industry for years, and I find it a joke what Japanese people think are "really good." Most talent here are brainless voices who have no understanding of what they are singing. In 99% of the cases they got their career in a backroom deal. Not based on their voice. As for the dancing etc. Copied from Korea who have alot of talent.

It's too late. When the American legal system gets done with them, Toyota America will be no more. People I know are already saying Toyota should get out of America. BUY U.S.A. Protect American Companies. Keep 100% of our money in America. Can't play the quality issue. When you can't even design a floor mat.... what does that say about your protect.

no such thing as adoption in Japan? I haven't heard of it. God forbid that a westerner come here and adopt a Japanese child, give them love, give them a home, give them a family. No throw them away in a supermarket toilet. Sad that Japan hasn't and won't join us in the 20th century. I don't agree with drop off points, but I support adoption 100000%. But as far as I know, I have never meet someone who has been adopted here. Heck this country still counts the father of a child based on marriage not paternity. The mother could even tell the government the father name, but the real father will never going to get paternity.

It's been happening over years. Japan for the last 15 years has been cheating their customers in the world. The quality hasn't been there. All the long hours people put in their offices sitting around doing nothing, are now being shown in the world. All talk and no show. Just look around Tokyo.... 100 yen stores everywhere. People can't afford to buy quality in Japan, so why should they produce quality for overseas. Just a few months ago Japanese were so smug about GM having troubles, how things have changed. Delta will probably get JAL renaming it DJAL *sounds French, and Toyota will never recover in the US. The lawsuits filings are going to keep them busy for years and years. And when they go to ask for help, no one is going to rescue them. Been saying it for years, the power in Asia is China. At least they charge a fair price for their products.

Because lawsuits here give pennies to the victim's while in the states they get multi-million dollar settlements. Japanese are always terrible to each other. Just saw the news that everyone who ones a Toyota in America are worried about their cars. People aren't driving them. Many are considering lawsuits. Are we seeing the end of Toyota.... Yes! Good bye Mr. T.... Can't sell American's junk and get away with it like you do in Japan.

morriconelover after 6 years of compulsory English classes in junior high school and high school, some limited English should be expected. And this is Tokyo not some back off the beaten town. This is Tokyo. The world language is not Japanese. Expecting some English is not a demand, it is just common sense.
