Proves that Japanese cops do nothing. I'm not saying they have nothing to do, they just do nothing. They don't even handout parking tickets any longer. (Out sourced that) Now their job is 100% image. They don't want to make arrests because that would make the crime percentage go up and Japan's reputation would be hurt. So, lose your motorcycle? Bicycle? Money? they don't care. They will file their report and go back to sleep. 99% just sitting around until they feel they want to go out and play.

Yelnats, women are not allowed. Remember their job is for image. We have women in our force. But they don't do anything except try to look pretty and drive around in K cars.

Japanese police should make a movie. Copy the American hit "Bad News Bears." They have so many people who can act.

Suzu1, this is an island country. You need to fly to go any where. Who is stuck here for 18 months at a time. Sad if you are. Most if not 99% of us get out of the zoo at least once a year.

W505a, you seem to be taking this so personally. Are you Japanese or something. How can so many of us be wrong? O us foreigners are wrong and you are right because you are Japanese? One reader pointed out Sales tax, which I forgot. We are paying even more than 50%. Japanese people might be willing to do this, but there are other places to work. Japan was once the land of the rising sun. I believe the sun is not rising anymore, but setting. Setting on a cynical, non-welcoming, business unfriendly land.

I think W505a should work for Interac or other Japanese company to get their staff in this system. He/She seems to love it. As for 99.9% of foreigners, either we don't need it as it is too expensive and we will never get anything out of it, and/or it was not designed for us. The Japanese government only wants to tax us for something we don't use or need.

Why anyone would pay 5250 yen for a credit card is beyond me. Japanese have too much money. Stupid shoppers.

W505a, Most foreigners come to Japan as ALT's, and currently they make 250,000 yen per month as a standard. jobsinjapan, gaijinpot, interac, etc. The salaries haven't changed in at least 12 years. Enforcement of these taxes would come for many people to nearly 50% of your income. It's a bit item. 25,000 yen a month for health insurance and your not covered overseas. I pay 8000 yen a month with Global Health Care and I have 100% coverage anywhere. The Japanese system is designed for Japanese. Now they want us to pay for it. That said, we have no control over it as it was totally designed for Japanese. Let them have their health coverage. Let us have ours. But they just want the money. It must be said, only we are being forced to have it. Many Japanese still are not paying into it. They don't have too.

So basicly, only permanent residents will be free from the insurance racket. All those teachers who are making near minimium wage (the same salary as 12 years ago) are going to be paying nearly 50% of their wages to various tax offices. 250,000 -7% for national 10 to 15% for local another 10% for insurance and 15,000 for penion, then 2000 yen for unemployeement. On top of the special tax on bonuses. Japan is simply taxing itself out of a real chance that anyone would want to do business here. Time to leave.

We have thunderstorms in the midwest that will out do any Typhoon that would hit Japan. The rain is not as heavy, but we have straight line winds that would blow a brick building down. Happens a few times a year. Get over it. Just stay home if you can't handle the rain.

CNN has a great video download of this, showing the happy children with their father. This tread is long. Has anyone brought up that the ex-wife got an 800,000 USD settlement to not take the kids out of America. She divorced him in the US because she could get more money. Most of the Japanese women who marry men who can afford 800,000 UDS settlements have this planned from the start. Go to the US for a few years. Have a few kids. Then take the Fathers money and leave with the kids. Watch the CNN special about it. Also the new wife was required to speak Japanese with him over the phone. Seems like the police are requiring him to speak in Japanese to do anything. Once this hit's Obama's desk all ShiX will fly.

US I am sure will issue another notice, like the roppongi one, saying Japanese women are after your money. Get a pre-nup!

I've used the bathroom in BIC Shinjuku before. It was sub-third world. The order that the men(s room had in it. I kept the door open and some BIC no brain came in behind me to close it. That place is disgusting. Truly terrible. Anything would be an improvement.

“Young hot shots have to go into the core of the IOC or we will always be considered outsiders.”Ishihara said. Now see how it feels you old racist jerk. When you blast foreigners at every opportunity these comments get out. The people you consistently complain about have friends everywhere. Unlike Japanese who rarely maintain real relationships. Blame everyone but the backward country you live is the reason you didn't get your dream. How many people does Japan let in to this country on humanitarian needs? How open are businesses? How easy is it to communicate with a majority of the worlds population, speaking any of the recognized International Languages (which Japanese isn't) And let's not start about what you would do in the event of an earthquake? Going to round up all the athletes because you are afraid they might riot because of the response, or lack of, the rescue crews. Hahaha. I am so happy today. See everyone in Rio. (And seeing that most of the Brazilians have been kicked out of their contract jobs, at 7 eleven plants, car plants, and basically any hard labor plant in Kanagawa and Shizoka, I am sure they are going to welcome Japan with open arms to their Olympics. Congrats Rio! You deserve it!

Does that mean they are going to knock on my door more than once a month? WMD, Same for the temple owners that drive 3 or 4 BMW's here in Tokyo. Even the statues of buda here have their hands in a position of money.

Yelnats, According to Interac "no they don't" Interac hires more ALT's in Japan than any other. And they don't pay into the National Premium. The put their teachers on Global Health.

A few posts are incorrect above. He was granted full custody of his children. She was granted visitation.

    edition.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/09/30/japan.savoie.children/index.html

    She kidnapped them.

Case Closed. She is a kidnapper and he is in Jail for trying to get his kids back. Only in Japan would you throw the foreigner in Jail on the word of a crazy Japanese women who is wanted in another country for kidnapping. Protecting their own.

Let's see Japan's record. --Protected Peru's xPresident for murder etc. in Peru --Protested when a Japanese man was arrested in Guam for murder after he fled 10 years ago. --Let's murders go scott free in the case that is still open. Now they can't find him. sure.... they are really looking. and now, imprison a man trying to get his children back.

I hope there are protests in Fukuoka and this is picked up and not dropped! Injustice. And with the new law here in Japan, Japan is going to help deport you if you want to get a divorce. The new law says you will loose your visa, even permanent visa, if you get divorced. They will kick you right out of the country. Got to love BUDO Japan that everyone on this site seems to go on and on about. Racist country. Double standards. 3rd world morals. I hope this woman visits any part of America someday. Hawaii, Guam, Any US Territory. We will lock her up and throw away the key.

Johnnyreb, Global Health Care is so much better than Japanese Health, and cheaper. Why can't we have this insurance and call it good? Because the Japanese government wants us to pay into a system that helps Japanese. It is a Gaijin tax. People in the US with jobs that pay what they do in Japan have insurance. Even an English teach here making 250,000 yen an hour (almost 3000.00 US) would be able to afford Insurance in the US.

Interac, the largest ALT company in Japan, does not provide insurance for any of their 1000 foreign employees. I know at least 10 more companies in Japan that don't offer their foreign employees insurance. Not because they want to, but because they don't want to pay the other 1/2.

So what do we tell Immigration? My company doesn't want to pay? which they will say o that's OK you still have to pay somewhere...?...

Get permanent residence so that they will never check this again. Just need a re-entry stamp every 3 years. As I believe this is with renewal of visa's, permanent residents will be exempt from this rule. Issuance of re-entry is only a form and a tax stamp.

The other crazy part of this law is when your residences comes into play. When you move if you don't notify immigration, within a certain amount of time you can be fined and or deported. (permanent visa holders included) which makes getting a permanent visa kind of pointless.

Also want to divorce your Japanese spouse, say goodbye to your spousal visa. Doesn't matter your children are Japanese etc. Get out. For Men this is great, but what about for women who are married to Japanese men. Divorce them and your out.

There are a ton of new rules with the new law. Just proves that Japan really don't want foreigners here.
