Were they giving away free food, gift coupons or something? Judging by the looks on some of the faces, they weren't there for the protest.

That suit he's wearing looks like my mom's kitchen floor back in 1972.

Another TRUCK incident! Most of these drivers are less safety conscious because the vehicle is not theirs and tend to drive erratic because of the amount of time they spend in these vehicles and as one already mentioned "think they own the road." I still can't see why so many trucks are on the road here, other countries seem to mange very well with less truck traffic. Japan needs to do a study and see what they are doing wrong. RIP little one, unfortunately you will not be the last...

Wasn't she the long time love interest of the scrappy looking one of the Down Town comedy duo?

I often wonder what becomes of the solicitor, in most cases the girl. This seems to be a web set to attract not only the scum who prey on these misguided children, but also the good guy making stupid judgment under the influence of alcohol or just mentally immature.

What is the official retirement age for drifting? I would think that a 36 year old man would have toddlers at home and would be concerned that is recklessness could cause injury or death to himself and others. Also, how can these drifters consider this as a "show our skills" event when there are no emergency services like paramedics and fire teams standing by in the event of a crash? What do they do, just leave the scene when one of their own wipes out? I don't call this drifting, its reckless behavior with total disregard for safety.

Always trucks involved! Let's see; cell phone check, tobacco & coffee check, CB radio check, head set on check, TV on check, grow intensely impatient with these small vehicles on my road check, check, check...

tigermoth, THANK YOU, I could have not said it any better! The brave men and women, who fought during that period, DO have the right to celebrate and remember their friends who gave the ultimate sacrifice and did not return. May I be the first and surely not the last to offer you a drink of your adult drink of choice if we ever cross path. Cheers!

Do the math here; two 22 year olds with a two year old. Most Japanese at one time were good about not starting a family until they were a bit older. Of course that was the pre-bubble era when kids were taken care of by wealthy moms and dads. Now you have teens and post teenagers making babies with no clue on how to properly feed and nurture them. I walk into a bar 1:30 a.m. a few months ago and was startled to see a young couple around high school age with a toddler in a stroller. The boy/dad, possibly 16 or 17 was knocking back some beers as the mom had a cocktail in front of her. The music was loud and smoke filled the air. This is truly a lost generation. Oh by the way, this is not strictly a Japan problem. Maybe more prevalent, but not exclusive. . I wish only a speedy recovery for the child and a swift and speedy trial followed by first class accommodations on lifers row for the parents.

There should to be some way to educate the good people of Japan, that people are not some form of tool, toy or appliance, and you should not destroy of discard it once it does not function at 100%. In Sickness and Health!

THANK YOU MICHAEL JACKSON! Your music and exceptional showmanship will forever be a part of many people’s live. Regardless of some of the negative things said here (yes everyone is entitled to an opinion) your mark on life will always inspire the chosen few in the entertainment world to reach higher.

I wish just once you superior beings would just say "ah sad story" and leave it at that without all the 20/20 hindsight and quips about the "flaws of Japanese society and culture" as you percieve it with your oh so perfect eyes.

Um, I think this is a forum that allows readers to voice their opinion freely with no one reader stating what should and should not be said.

I am not blaming the father for anything here

I too had many a fishing trips with my father as a tyke, however I do remember my moms saying "don't take your eyes off of him" to my father each time. I do blame the father! Many will argue here that this is over protective, but I'm still here today.

This is long overdue. I avoid going there after dark. Those guys are a nuisance! It looks nothing like Roppongi a few years ago. Time for some house cleaning.
