There once was a man from Saitma

Who met up with some dudes from Hayama

They got into a brawl in a Gusto Bar

That lead to destruction of someone's Car

Did I mentioned this happened in Saitama

"I have to wonder if she had HIV/AIDS given the stigma this disease has in Japan"

buddha4brains, have you ever heard of any celebrity or any person of high stature succumbing to AIDS or even currently infected with HIV? I would have to agree with you, this may be another one swept under the rug.

In my 20 something odd years in Japan, I have never, ever, ever, ever seen a cop smile period! Ok, maybe the one time after he handed me a 15,000 yen parking ticket.

Sorry to hear this gentleman gave in to the status quo of mainstream Japan. Although I am not Asian, when I speak Japanese in this country to the regular folks, I get a stare of awe that often blurs their hearing senses and must repeat myself to get their attention again. Yes, it is 2009, but you would never know it here.

Agree with buggerlugs, I'm sure many were otaku and salery men who were big fans of her earlier career during the late 80's and early 90's. RIP

“I really respect what firefighters do,”

Finally, a more educated response to the silly questions asked by the media. Unlike the airhead response by many other campaign girls in earlier JT articles.

She most properly gave him the old wave off, but still no reason to get shanked. Agree with TokyoGas, open season has yet to close.

Started out well with the Dodgers (2.5 ERA), then began to fizzle out with the 8 or 9 other teams that picked him up afterwards.

"As I recall, the Japanese sports media totally dissed Nomo for leaving Japan and going to the MLB. I'd be unfriendly to them too."

As I recall Nomo fired the first shot by making a comment in the US media about Japanese baseball being substandard compared to American MLB.

Oh this is good! Just before turning, she stops in the middle of the intersection and makes a call to mom or dad to say "should I, or should I not."

"seeing him for the first time in 23 years. Tamaki said: “When she came to help me, it was like a miracle. I couldn’t believe it,” and said he proposed to her the same day. Their marriage is Tamaki’s fourth and Ishihara’s second."

I give it six months. Not a good record staying married for either of them. Judging by the picture its a taxi they are riding off into the sunset in. Times must be lean for both, but I'm only assuming the worst....

"Those are a lot of old big names. I remember watching them as a kid and probably the only one who can really move is Li, then Lundgren and then maybe Rourke if he can keep in shape"

You may have over looked Forest Whitaker as one of the player here, so I will assume you did not want to include him as one of the "old big names," since he is only second to Jet Li in being the youngest and has a black belt in Karate.

I'm qualified to say you saitamkid, watch too much TV. That makes you a popular TV watcher.

Prior to the “bubble burst” of 1995, crime in Japan was virtually nonexistent or at lease not reported as much. Japan was the model for all police agencies in the world to follow. As a matter of fact, police chiefs from New York, London and L.A. came to Japan to seek out how the JN police kept crime so low. Well, with the current economy and being on the brink of depression, the obvious has been revealed. Desperate people will commit desperate acts. Too bad the JN judicial system has not kept up with the more complex crimes of today.

I think Shinjo is channeling the 1975 American TV program “The Man of Bronze,” starring Ron Ely as Doc Savage. Ebi-chan is looking tempuralicious!

Kweto, I stand corrected. Not knowing someone and being popular are two separate issues. That brings me back to the often used term here on JT "popular." Still don't know him and quite sure

    "I think it's yourself"

I'm not the only one. Must watch more JTV, I guess.
