    Popular comedian Gekidan Hitori

Is it me or does anyone else here *not *know this "popular" comedian?

Alright, give spudman a break! Yes, no one forced her up the pole, but money does play a part in her getting up there. From what I can see this is just what most have already said, entertainment. I think what spudman is referring to is the more scantly clad pole dancers, and Japan is not the only place this happens, however it may be one of the most tasteless place. Exploitation of women in this country is the norm until a prominent group of people step up and demand a stop to it. Until then it’s anyone right to choose to participate or go elsewhere.

"If I wasn’t a celebrity, I’d like to join. I’m thinking about it.”

Megumi, what ever you do, don't lose the fire chief's business card. Once your career fades as all J-actress/models do eventually, you may need that new career in fire fighting.

Can someone educate me on this one? I'm not sure how old is Hana, but debuting in 2000 and able to retire nine years later, will she be receiving a pension from this company or was the use of the word "retire" misused in this article?

It would be unfair to say that the reaction to an actual emergency and a drill would differ only in Japan. However, as borscht pointed out, there are few to none that would step forward and take charge in this country in the event of a disaster in fear someone would be injured or die because they had took the initiative to restore calm and do the right thing in getting everyone to safety.

“I love working on movies. It’d be great if I could win an award someday,” she said.

No problem, you are already nominated and is a shoe-in for Best Redest Beer Face.

Totally agree with Kuristofu and JapanHusker. There’s such a lack of parental guidance in the society and public safety. But you are not going to change something that is embedded into the culture. I have seen on far too many occasions the mother riding a bike ahead of the preschooler not watching watch is going on behind her. In fact I saw an incident where the mother was a several feet ahead of her kid and the kid slid under a moving car and the mother continued around the corner, never seeing what happened. The classic is the parent who walks ahead of the child in the cross walk who has been walking all of two months and assume they are keeping the same pace and will not be distracted and stop and gaze at the car grill directly in their face. I can go on and on, but what's the point, someone here will justify why this is acceptable in this society.

Sad fact is that this garbage will represent westerners in the Japanese media for the next few years. I don't think it will end here. There was discussion in an unrelated post about disrespect of foreign English teachers. Unfortunately this may be the case here, where a few chaps may be in between jobs and have too much time on their hands. I don't think any corporate employee would place his career on the line for a quick laugh, or maybe they would...

This guy stinks! His humor is antiquated and plagiarized numerous times over by many idiots before him. It's only the new generation of Japanese who have never seen this type of antics who find it entertaining. Be gone with you, forever...

Single 21 year old, preparing to shoot out child #3. Involved in the death of her 3 year old, but not arrested because she is pregnant. I say treat her like a stray cat and have her spayed, then lock her up for a while.

“Don’t toss me aside. I’ll reform myself. I’m not going to drink for a while.”

This one cracks me up! "I'm not going to drink for a while," in this case may have already expired.

Hmmm, she has yet to deny being married to him. Hmmm, several million dollars in debt, still married. Could have easily reported him to the police for illegal drug use. Hmmm, still married to him. Yes, I would say, a bit of mud slung at her is ok in this article as well. Sure you can only comment on what you can see on the surface, but at some point in this marriage she became just as involved as he. I think those who have made comments only on her name were minimal compared to what can really be said. Hmmm, maybe if estranged wife of Komuro...

Concur with Harry and JohnBecker, time has truly gone by. A very talented and classy lady, with some timeless songs under her belt as well. Too bad she will be letting SMAP brutalize them.

Wow BurakuminDES, “keep these buffoons in check.” Sounds like a great idea, since very little crimes are committed in Japan by US military members (less than 2 percent) compared to domestic crimes, it will allow the MPs ( who by the way, can not apprehend beyond the boundaries of the bases, that’s the Japanese responsibility by law) to collar the other non US military “buffoons” who cause crimes.

No harm, no foul. I would assume this happens quite often, but never reported. Did not, stab, strangle, shoot or bludgeon like most recent crimes. Hopefully JT got the facts right. Once before there was Paul Harvey “rest of the story” and the victim was not as honest as it was initially reported to the police. I nominate him for the Best Stupidestist award for getting involved with a bar girl who’s job is to suck every dollar possible out your pocket and have you believe you are the only one in her life. Let the military handle this, and believe me they will do so. He will be back states side directly after some R&R in military lock up.
