Ah,ha,ha,ha ! You kill me.
You mean the very same movie (Flower and Snake) where she just happened to appear in masochistic sex acts ? And the same author of that well-known novel about singing, 'Orgasm Life' ?
I guess you already bought her new book..

bicultural, it certainly is just the entertainment section of some internet news site. But it doesn't excuse the promotional bandwagon of some over-aged porno actress releasing some story about a suicide attempt that we can only read about if we stump up cash for her book. There is such a thing as responsible journalism, certainly when these porno actors are presented as mainstream celebrities to impressionable young girls.

You need to get your facts correct. Katherine Hamnett is an English fashion designer who graduated from Central St. Martins College in London and who influenced British fashion in the Eighties. She is famous for the large slogan t-shirts that Wham! wore (Chhose Life etc).

Willi, in the Softbank ads Dante Carver plays the brother of Japanese Ueto Aya, despite Dante clearly being of African-American descent. The name of Softbank's fictional family is the White family. Now they have people speaking to the dog in English. Like I said, this would never be allowed to air in the civilised world.

Let me see now. The first time anyone has heard about her suicide attempt, which just happens to coincide with the release of her new book, written by an ex-porno actress. What is Japan Today doing printing absolute rubbish such as this ??

Until the point where Hamasaki and a Japanese old man respond to the dog by saying 'ssank you' in bad English. The dog symbolising gaijin ? (saw the commercial on the weekend) Can you imagine back home (Europe/ the States/ Aus/ NZ etc) if a commercial ran where actors respond to a dog in bad Japanese ? It would never be allowed to air.

They select the muscle parts of the insects they kill to feed to the Giant Japanese Hornet larvae in the nest. Hence the breeding of natural born killers with very few predators. These larvae are not fed just any old insect part. They are raised on muscle parts and honeybee larvae. Mad.

Japanese Giant Hornet workers/ hunters are driven by the incessant scratching of it's nest larvae and their ravenous appetite. The larvae are fed the meat of honeybees, as well as the beehive larvae.
A number of people each year in Japan die after Japanese Giant Hornet stings. Not caused by the venom, but by anaphylactic shock from the acute pain of the sting.

Not a good idea. I wouldn't take Giant Asian Hornet advice from posters on Japan Today (i.e the previous poster offering his services after catching a few tiny wasps). The police officer who was stung all over should be dead and is very lucky if he isn't. I would keep well away from them and call your local ward office to get rid of them.

The only true masters of hunting Giant Asian Hornets in Japan are local beekeepers from Miyazaki. Miyazaki is Giant Asian Hornet country in Japan. It only takes around 30 of these Giant Hornets to destroy a complete beehive with thousands of bees (Giant Asian Hornets are over 3 times the size of a honeybee), therefore the local beekeepers need to be proactive and go on the hunt for them.
These huge killer hornets can take apart a whole beehives nest of larvae and feed them to their own over-aggressively hungry larvae (as well as the remains of the bees that have been slaughtered). So what the Hornet hunters in Miyazaki do is to stake out known Giant Hornet countryside. When they find one, usually a lone scout hunter, they net it and tie a long paper streamer to it's abdomen. Amazingly the locals can then track the flight of the Hornet and sometimes find the ground nest that it belongs to.
The rest of fairly simple. A long fishing-net type trap is readied over the entrance to the nest and the local hunters smoke the Hornets out. Once they realise that their nest is under attack the attack theromones are released and the whole nest will come out, straight into the waiting trap.
The Miyazaki Hornet hunters will then traditionally celebrate that evening by frying and eating some of the Giant Hornets.

That doesn't really answer n3312's question. They are clearly Japanese hornets because it happened in Japan. It is doubtful that they were Giant Asian (Japanese) Hornets because that officer who was stung all over would be dead for sure.

Whilst the Palestinians and Palestinian children are economically starved by the Israeli sanctions and refugee camp barricades, the Israelis go and build thousands of new homes and schools on land that is supposed to be up for negotiation. The Israelis are a disgrace to the human race. And these settlers are nasty spiteful people who live by the rifle and the bulldozer.

A police sting ?
Moderator: Readers, there is nothing funny about this story. No immature remarks please.

Paulie, that's the point. We are paying taxes in Shibuya-ku. And in this overcrowded, skyscraper-ridden borough, we expect our local council to do that job. Not take money from a corporation such as Nike to do it. Also, we are not all skateboarders here so most of us would just like park space, not P-Rod sponsored concrete bowls.

limboinjapan is still banging on about the homeless. You seem to have a bit of a complex about them don't you ?
I also live near Shibuya right by Yoyogi Park and I also have young children, but we have never had any issues with the homeless in Yoyogi Park nor in Shibuya. In fact, the real issues are with the gangster-backed agencies who take fees from otaku to photograph girlie models in Yoyogi Park. And if the homeless in your local park really are defecating and yelling at the children, then just call the police or sort them out yourself.
Because of your ranting about the homeless (who let's be honest, despite their stink are pretty harmless) you completely miss the point here. You have children in Shibuya-ku ? You care about your taxes in Shibuya-ku ? Then you should also be joining the demonstrators in protesting about your local councils incompetence and money-grabbing attitude to their work.

limboinjapan/ Disillusioned, this is an argument about a public park being sold off to a multinational retailer, rather than local council keeping the park clean and free of the homeless. This is not an argument about the homeless (although I wonder what your opinions would be if you were in your 40's or 50's and out of work in Japan. My bet is that you wouldn't last even 1 week).
As for your defence of the so-called homeless shelter system in Japan, the best example of the Japanese governments hypocrisy and lies over shelters for it's homeless is every New Year in Tokyo. They lay on tent shelters with food and a little cash, get their PR department to splash it all over the TV and printed press, and then close them down after about 2 weeks.
This is not about the homeless. The only reason that park was over-run with the homeless is because Shibuya Ward did not spend their tax income and left it to rot. The homeless problem is just a consequence of Shibuya Wards incompetence.

Can Japan Today please publish the WHOLE story and disclose details about the FULL amount of money paid by Nike for this park. The 17 million yen is just for the naming rights. Please print all of the financial details and stop making this news story sound like it is only 17 million yen.

By paying a backhander to local council for naming rights to a public park ? If Nike care so much about 'sports for the people', then why not hand out free sneakers and sporting goods in the third world where Nike have a bad reputation for child labour and sweat shops ?

I blame the soft treatment of her in the U.S for all this. How can you allow someone who has to complete 200 hours of community service, complete a drugs programme, and be on informal probation for a year, to then have fun jet-setting around the world ?

Well if you flew out here whilst on probation for a drugs offence then you clearly don't understand.
