The point here is not a question of child custody, but nursery school security. Japanese nursery schools are supposed to issue an ID card for the family members who are permitted to collect their children from the nursery. Either this guy had one, which would mean that he was wrongfully arrested, or he did not, which would mean that the nursery school breached the security arrangement.

But as opposed to a punch drunk boxer, Hideki Matsui is the current World Series MVP. Unless you are implying that even a punch drunk player can be World Series MVP.
Are you serious ? He just won the World Series for the Yankees.

noborito, I guess we can all compare our Dan rankings and tournament experience but that doesn't really count for much on a chat site now does it. If you really do have such Judo experience, you for one should know that the Japanese are taught the art of winning by Ippon. Not by defensive techniques, point scoring and evading throws. You should know that really. So to write that the rest of the world is improving Judo is wrong. As I have already stated, i am uncomfortable with Japan's jingoistic approach to Judo. But let's be honest here, I would much rather watch a judoka like Koga trying to throw a competitor on his back in the Olympic gold medal match, than a French judoka and their defensive approach. For your supposed glittering Judo resume, deep down you should know who plays the beautiful game.

Noborito, that's rubbish. The Japanese know how to play exciting judo that is great to watch. The other international federations have turned Judo into a boring points-based sport. It's not an art anymore. That is the only way the other federations have been able to compete with the Japanese, by changing the rules in their own favour. When you write that the rest of the world is giving Judo improved techniques, you have obviously never played the sport competitively before.

Whilst the Japanese are definitely over the top and very zingoistic when it comes to international Judo, especially Olympic Judo, they do play the beautiful game. Only until very recently the Japanese judoka were always taught to win by Ippon (to throw your opponent onto their back) and that is how young judoka are still brought up in the sport here. It is very beautiful to see a win by Ippon and the Japanese are very frustrated with the international Judo federation making the sport so boring and points based now.

The focus of this picture is on a North Korean sportsman with a Japanese competitor lying on his back in the same shot. No explanation of how the North Korean won (Ippon ? Points ?), nor, alarmingly for a Japanese-based news site, how the other Japanese judoka have fared throughout the competition. It is cheap journalism devised to stir argument.

More controversy-stirring by our favourite English language internet news site in Japan. Why could'nt Japan Today show a photo of the winning throw instead of a North Korean judoka standing with the number one pose with a Japanese judoka on his back in the background ? And if Japan Today really cared so much about covering the East Asian Games judo, why haven't we seen other photos of the tournament action ? This is just more stirring to gather attention and debate about the Japanese/ North Korean political issue.

USARonin, whilst countless young good American and British servicemen have returned home with a flag draped over their coffin all for the name of revenge and politics, the President of the US strolls into Oslo to collect the Nobel Peace Prize. Do you not see the hypocrisy ?

USARonin, mine is one of them. A decision made by British politicians without a public vote and not a decision made by me. Like I already said, if you want to use military power for your own interests, then that's your right. But don't give us that speech whilst being awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace.

What a mistake. Award the Nobel Prize for Peace to someone who then makes a speech about the justification for a superpower using it's military might. If Obama wants to justify the US military being used to protect American interests, then fine. But don't award him with the Nobel Peace Prize for idealism like that. That's just a complete joke.

Do these criminals not have a period of probation where they have to report their daily schedules and residency to a prison probation officer ? It seems as though he went on an orgy of robbery and assault in a very short period of time which leads you to believe that neither the police nor the prison probation authorities did their jobs properly.
So the police released a picture of an ex-prisoner who had been in jail until September this year and did not do their homework to realise that they already held photographic and prison records of the ATM suspect.
