I was inferring that she was not with an adult close at hand. She is 6 years old mate. There are too many people here defending this as some kind of everyday occurence. And who said she was with older children or with adults close by ? From the sound of the story the chances are that she was alone, if we are going to assume things.

LFR, my children attend local Japanese schools and I disagree with your defence of the Japanese system. Ever since 8 young children were stabbed to death in Ikeda in 2001, schools put into place a security guard and a locked front gate. They no longer do that and have the local education authorities done anything to keep this system in effect ? My eldest never had a neighbourhood watch and never had anyone watching out for him over a designated route. It doesn't happen like you explain, but there again you could be employed by the Japanese education system couldn't you ?

richiesama, I feel exactly the same way as you. And when your child is old enough to go to school here you'll get the same ridiculous rule about the kids having to learn to get to school and back by themselves. Meanwhile we have nutters like this one in Hyogo with no extra security for those children whlst he was at large.

Another point that a lot of people are missing here is, just what is a 6 year old girl doing walking home by herself anyway ? We all know that in a perfect world 6 year olds should be able to walk home from school unescorted like I did back in the day. But we are also aware that it is just not safe anymore. And the Japanese schools have these macho rules about young children learning to get to school and back on their own, which in today's climate is just plain irresponsible. If they knew about other attacks since September and had not caught the guy, why weren't safety rules put into place ?

Jack Warner is a typical example of the egomaniacs and idiots running FIFA. He makes very personal comments about other soccer associations which are in no way professional. And for him to make a statement like 'this is England's time' is unfair to the competition and puts undue pressure on the England bid. Jack Warner thrives in his power games and is another example of why FIFA and UEFA need to be replaced.

So when you want to boast that Cahill would skin Terry alive and how you would back him doing so, it all sounds quite serious. But when someone answers those statements with a reasoned response then it was just banter ? If you really are foolish enough to believe that Tim Cahill is capable of skinning John Terry alive, then at least stand up and say so.

Well, you can't get much of a bigger stage than the Premier League so can someone please remind me the last time that Cahill skinned John Terry alive whilst playing for Everton ? I personally can't stand Terry as a man but the statement above is just ridiculous.
The Australian comments on here are laughable and show a complete lack of knowledge about soccer. You back up brave statements about 'bringing on England' with the likes of Josh Kennedy, currently plying his trade in the J-League. If the answer to Rooney/ Terry/ Lampard/ Gerrard/ Joe Cole/ Ashley Cole is Tim Cahill and Josh Kennedy then yes, please let England draw Australia.

England won 9 games out of 10 qualifiers home and away, including a 4-1 thrashing of Croatia in Croatia, did not draw a single match and the only game they lost was away at a decent nation (Ukraine) after England had already won their group. 34 goals scored with only 9 conceded. Yep, sounds lucky to me.
A typical Australians view of South African soccer. Try reading up on the history of Jo'burg soccer and the townships leagues. South Africa are a team to avoid next year, unlike Australia.
Let me see now. John Terry versus Tim Cahill. Wayne Rooney versus Vince Grella. Steven Gerrard versus Luke Wilshire. Frank Lampard versus Marc Bresciano. You must be an England fan right ?

Yukari Ogino studied the very same course (horticulture) at the very same university (Chiba university faculty of horticulture) as Ichihashi, although at a different year. Japan Today seem to want to hide this fact.
Moderator: You have been cautioned before about your obsession with Ichihashi. Please do not bring it up on this or any other unrelated thread again.

Nouveau is a little bit of a joke on the rest of us from the French. It is an idea to make some money from the cheap grapes that are not really good enough for producing decent wine.

The broken wrist acknowledgement is important because it shows that violence was used excessively during the rape. This juror is merely venting his frustration at proceedings not completing, especially as it sounds like the defendant had admitted his guilt the day before. I would also have lost my temper if confronted with a piece of trash like that wasting taxpayers money.

The juror in question was probably the jury foreman, however I would have thought that his questions should have been directed at the defence counsel ? If there was no defence counsel then this sounds about right and the judge would not have allowed the direct questioning if there was defence counsel present. I totally agree with what the juror had to say to the rapist, especially if the rapist had already admitted his guilt. A 15 year old schoolgirl ? And broke her wrist ? Why are there so many idiots on here directing their anger at the juror ? How about the 39 year old rapist of a 15 year old schoolgirl ?

This is a totally irresponsible article, considering the emotions involved and what happened to Lindsay Hawker. All this 'journalist' (I hesitate to use the word) has done is find a couple of nutcases blogging on the internet (as if that is difficult) and built some half-baked story about Ichihashi being hero-worshipped. Articles such as this create friction and are designed to upset people who are unaware that it is a non-story.

The headline here is misleading and contrived to garner a lot of response as usual. 'Washington' is not outraged. The real headline would read 'a handful of anti-Obama Republicans are upset about it'. This headline has been made up.
