Someone who has been out drinking and driving and who escapes from the scene of a fatal road accident is guilty of the crime. Forget all your ridiculous little scenarios. If you go out drinking and driving, hit someone in an accident and drive off, then you are TOTALLY guilty of whatever happened. And that is exactly why educated nations have drink-driving laws. Although I get the impression that I am banging my head against some thick brick wall here.

Since this story broke yesterday, we have had pretty clear facts from the police regarding the tragic death of a young man killed by a hit and run driver. Nothing from the police to suggest that the deceased was breaking any road laws or not wearing the correct safety clothing. We then get more news today that it was indeed a hit and run car driver who had been drink-driving and who hit the motorcyclist on a crossing and then escaped from the scene. Nothing at all in the news about the motorcyclist losing control of his bike or running red lights. And yet, ever since yesterday I have had to read disrespectful made-up stories about the deceased. About his poor riding. About him not wearing the correct helmet. About him speeding or running red lights. And all of this from internet posters on a chat site and none of it from the police investigators. So, why do I have to read such trash when a 28 year old man is now dead ? Do you think the victims family want this rubbish printed ?

Then how do we know that the kickboxing gym owner didn't smash-up the side of his car to make it look as though it was the motorcyclists fault ? This guy has already broken the law twice by drink driving and leaving the scene of an accident so there is a good chance he is trying to divert evidence as well.

Yesterday we had posters making up all kinds of stories about the deceased. And this morning, despite the arrest of a hit and run driver who had been out drinking, you still want to carry on with these childish stories.

And so finally we get the real facts to put all of those stupid assumptions to bed. It appears that this guy was drunk and hit the motorcyclist and drove away. The deceased did not break any traffic laws and there is nothing to suggest that he was not wearing the correct safety equipment.

Thank you cleo. Some actual facts rather than all the assumptions and speculation surrounding the sad death of a 28 year old. It would be really interesting to discover the nationalities of the posters here claiming that Japan has roads of death, for which they base their unfounded conclusions to this fatality. As I already said, the chances are that this motorcyclist was riding perfectly with the right protection and was killed by a hit and run driver. Instead of all this disrespectful gossip.

KaptainKichigai, there is absolutely no way that, according to your eyewitness experience, 99% of drivers in Japan break the road laws. Absolutely no way. There would be hundreds of fatalities every week and thousands of injuries every week. The road network and the emergency services would ground to a halt. Your stats are based on personal grievances and are hysterical. It is also the reason why you and others here have been disrespecting the memory of a deceased man, killed in a hit and run, when you have not one ounce of evidence to blame the death on the deceased.

He was hardly 'clipped'. He is now dead. Hit and run in this case is manslaughter at the least.
If a motorcyclist gets hit head-on by a truck (the police report states that the front of the bike was extensively damaged), or even a car, then bleeding from the head is guaranteed, full-face helmet worn correctly or not. Full-face helmets worn correctly do not protect a motorcyclist being hit head on, they are only supposed to protect you when you hit the road.

So many posters here (Disillusioned/ KaptainKichigai) would fail even the most simplest of police traffic accident investigator tests. You arrive at a scene where a motorbike is heavily damaged (read the report people). There are no tyre marks on the road to suggest loss of control resulting in the crash (read the report again people). Even at this early stage the police are assuming that the motorcyclist was involved in a hit and run (yep, read the news report). If you had no hard evidence and had to work on speculation and assumptions it would lead to the fact that it was the fault of the person causing the hit and run. Why ? Because they ran without reporting the accident, which would mean a good chance that they caused the accident (which is why they escaped - do I have to spell it out !) Rocket science it is not..

KaptainKichagai, your calculation of the odds does not add up at all. You might see so many motorcyclists, cyclists and truck drivers breaking the law every day, but even that percentage would be, what, 35% of everyone you see breaking the law, max ? And even that percentage is way too high in reality. So that would mean that 65% of motorcyclists, cyclists and truck drivers do drive in the proper manner, which would rubbish your assumption because it would mean that there was a 65% chance that the deceased was riding in a proper manner. Seeing as you like to base everything on assumptions...

More cold-hearted nonsense. Show some respect. And even if you wore a full face helmet and full body armour, if a motorcyclist gets hit by a truck then there won't be much left of the motorcyclist. Anyone who passes away deserves respect. And your fairytale assumptions are just that, fairytale assumptions. How would you feel if the story transpires that it was a hit and run with the motorcyclist wearing all the safety protection and riding in a proper manner ? Would'nt you feel pretty stupid ?

It's time for a completely new organisation to run world football. Kick Blatter, FIFA and UEFA out for good. The sport should be run by supporters organisations and previous players of good standing. No more huge profits and ridiculous salaries based in tax-free Switzerland and it should be a non-profit organisation fully transparent with it's expenses and salaries and it should raise a lot of money for charity. Bring back the UEFA Cup, the European Cup Winners Cup and tone down the Champions League. It would also be time to bring video recalls into the game and get rid of that stupid new offside rule.

This'll put a stop to it. Whenever there is a World Cup, Olympics etc coming up, get yourself 20 global members on your Bid Committee representing every continent (preferably accountable professionals such as lawyers or police officers). Then hold a voting lottery on the actual day of the vote selecting only 5 members from the committee. That would put a stop to most of the bribery and dodgy deals that go on, as the 20 members of the Bid Committee would know they only have a 25% chance of getting to vote and therefore could not secure a paid vote. Knowing who gets to vote is ridiculous.
