I don't think you should call Hamas a country...

No, it's not per sae however Israel claims to be and should thus be judged by the same standards it claims to justify it's own existence by....

if any other country went to war killing as many civilians, women and children, it would be called a war crime

Really? Where? Not in the Middle East and definitely not in Europe. Maybe in Japan?

The U.N. General Assembly in 2013 adopted a total of 21 resolutions singling out Israel for criticism — and 4 resolutions on the rest of the world combined. Doesn't sound like Israel is avoiding criticism.

    I was being facetious ......

no point in criticising Israel for any action it takes as you will simply be labelled anti-semitic .... Israel has moved beyond criticism and exists in it's own bubble of deluded self justification ....

where's Cheney, Rumsfeld and the old crowd?? Shouldn't they be the ones going back to clean up this mess?? Despite repeated warnings years ago that the current situation was a real possibility, they pressed on with shock and awe to 'liberate' the Iraqi's and free up the oilfields for western interests.... they must be proud of what they have achieved....

I would say the chances of Japan respecting an anti-whaling ban are about the same as the pirates on the Sea Shepard respecting international maritime laws. Pretty much zero....

Japan slowly begins to openly discuss crossdressing men in heterosexual relationships

LIke in many other countries, I expect this will be the hot topic of conversation around countless Japanese breakfast tables in the near future....

I think Japan should not accept to back on this even for an inch! They can take their case to the International Court of Justice and argue that child eroticism is part of Japanese culture and other countries should try to understand and respect that!

Who are you kidding?? There is absolutely no way the international court of justice would rule in favour of Japan if they tried to claim that child eroticism is part of it's culture... another example of Japan wheeling out the "culture card" to avoid upsetting the establishment....

Hopefully, Snowden comes back to the states and stands up like a real man, if he is one and face charges and challenges the legal system, if he's found innocent, he should walk, if he's found guilty, then he should spend the rest of his miserable life in jail or at least 50 years in a federal prison 23 hour lockdown and let him reflect on what he did to his country and the men and women that are out in the field. We will NEVER trust each other if we have rouge ego maniacs like Snowden going around thinking they can just break the law at will.

Does this comment also apply to the NSA and others of the same ilk who have broken the law??? I didn't think so...

If he's sick he's sick...This is a concept that the Japanese fail to understand about the human condition on a regular basis.

Never a truer observation made about Japan... the out and out suspicion that Japanese have when someone takes a day off even with a doctors certificate... regardless of how sick you are, you have to 'gumbaru' before anything else...

Did they also discuss Israel's nuclear weapons? Oh, I forgot! Israel doesn't have them.

I was going to ask exactly the same thing... I guess that means Israel's neighbours should be nervous about it's illicit weapons... can they also have a chat with Mr Abe??
