LIke you said, shared. Japan is getting 2011, England will get a go too. Maybe we should have more world cups, so it can get around faster. I do agree with the point about it being betetr used to develop rugby in other locales though.

"What people are ignoring here is the real danger posed by casting the demon out of this teenager: now there's a gay demon on the loose. " STEPHEN COLBERT, comedian, on the YouTube footage of a Connecticut pastor performing an exorcism on a gay teen.

Correction last sentence of first paragraph should read: By the look of the articles description of events, the boy vomited because they pushed on his stomach until he puked, not because a demon sodomised him.

realist. with all that talk of the sky wizard I doubt the validity of your moniker. Your talk of GODS laws, well they were written by man, unless God uses his lazer vision and sears the laws into a mountain side for all to see, they are mans laws claiming to be the word of God. You asume that you are correct and that non-believers are wrong. The opposite is also true. People need to agree to disagree on the issue of gods existence, and stop trying to enforce thier world view upon the other. Especially through exorcisms. By the puked, not because a demon sodomised him.

If I have faith or not is not the question, and should be of no consequence, so I will not say. The question is how deep down the rabbit hole of fairy tales and delusion will someone go in the name of said faith. How much abuse would I inflict on another human, percieved wrongs, enemies or not, how far will you go in the name of religeon as opposed to in the name of your humanity.

Im not gay, and Im not worried because you cant catch it, its a choice. And its not my, or anyones elses business what someone does behind thier curtains.

If you are causing no harm, you are alright with me. Religeon has caused and still causes much harm world and history wide. Much more than a roll in the hay between a couple of guys ever did. Now tout your religeon as being the be all and end all of this world. I believe that belief itself will last, but religeon is bound to die as it inbreeds, and excorizes, terrorizes, martyrs, and persecutes iself into oblivion. Real realists will not put up with it forever.

I think China is doing this because of, rather than in spite of, the economic downturn. The companies are too afraid to say no and lose big profit, even if saying yes causes slight profit loss.

I agree flatearther. Makes one want to never visit America. But I do keep my peripheral vision turned up high when standing at the train platform.

In the few years I've been here though, as a male, I've only had one or two weak attempts at intimidation, and always by groups of young guys against one of me, while in my home country, supposedly at number one on the safe list, it would have been much more direct, and probably have ended in violence. IN fact, the only violence I have encountered here has been from other foreigners. Oh wait, there was that young drunk kid at a bar, who had a big brother, which made him think he was god.

    aaanyway,

I would still recommend women to be wary of being alone with Japanese men they do not know well. Unless they can kick ass like flatearther.

flatearther: I think not many Japanese men have the cahones to approach, let alone molest a Foreign woman. They generally like to target OLs and school girls. 5'7 is also probably the same height as many of them.

I agree that women and children are at the most risk here. Also corruption, which is rampant in government and law enforcement and business, is not reported, simply because they get away with it.

I do think this is a safe country, I feel more safe here walking alone at night than I would back home, but thats probably because of the city I lived in. BUt that said,in contrast to sereofreaks claim, Japan is ranked as the 7th safest country on the global peace index, which I believe is a far more accurate assesment than just taking the homiside rate of two years. Look up the criteria on wikipedia if you want, it seems very thourough.

So, Japan went from 5th to 7th. While NZ, my home country went to number 1. And yet I still feel safer here? Maybe I dont spend enough time in bigger cities in Japan. Maybe its the type of crime. I might get beat up back home, but I wouldnt get murdered randomly. If I was a girl I would not be felt up on public transport. And if I was a child I would have less to worry about from lecherous elders. Oh yeah, I could also trust my government and neighbours more( depending on the neighbourhood). Why? Japanese often dont even know thier neighbours name, but rather try to pretend they dont exist. THe fact that someone is less likely to help you here when you are in trouble also points to a reason why it is down to number 7.

But hey, America ranks at 83, Aussie at 19, obviously Japan, while going slightly down the crapper is still not too bad at number 7.

SO, not unsafe to the extent claimed by the media, nor as great and golden as claimed by this tool with insufficient stats. Gee its great to be Japanese, but that doesnt mean you cant improve.

Get 'em playing younger here, that will help. Also, good job of holding up against NZ, but don't forget, that was not the National team of NZ. The score would have been a very different story then, even with them out of form as they seem to be now. VAliant attempt, but allowing 51 points to be scored against your team is not too outstanding, even if it could have easily been double that. Japan needs to send more players to Aussie and NZ, maybe even SAF, if they want them to develop. Hell, send the coaches over too. Oh wait, someones gonna have to learn english... Staying in Japan and doing things the Japan way is the long road to catch up to the stronger rugby nations.

The big boys are going down and good I say. Especially if the new schools are run and managed by a foreigner / native speaker. Lets have less foreign language teachers under the thumb of japanese companies, who care little about thir staff, thier students, or even the language. Become self sufficient!! Small schools are the way to go. Students and teachers alike could do well to avoid conglomerate chain store language learning/ teaching.

All good man, I get you. Lets hope for more spectator support upcoming games. Maybe even some decent coverage of the local competitions.

On a side note... Just curious, I have been trying to find out, but my searches revealed nothing, when is the actual Japanese rugby season from and to? If I'm healed sufficiently I wouldn't mind joining a local team next season. Be grateful if anyone knows.

All this talk seems to continue the divide between races. The apology was supposed to close it, but obviously it didn't work. Whites blacks, it's rare to see a human being who is truly either of those colours. We are generally shades of human, and the slavery of any human, of any colour creed or whatnot is a shame. Yet we continue to be enslaved by our own minds, by our bosses, and by society at large. You guys should just hug and agree that neither of you likes slavery.

8 hours on a bus...boohoo. take the shinkansen to takasaki, then get a bus or local train or both from there. Better yet, take a road trip.

As for the hospitality of the locals...well, Ive been here long enough to know that if you speak Japanese you will get thetime of day, but not much more. Now kyoto, even though I was not allowed into countless bars, the everyday people there were so courteous and friendly it was a shock after being in Gunma for so long.

ALso the comment about fresh air, I guess that place must realy be up in the hills, becase the prefecture has one of the highest percentages of car use per-capita in Japan. In the low-lying cities, it is anything but fresh. Still cleaner than Tokyo though.

But enough negativity, Gunma is huge and empty in many parts. Lots of rivers and mountains and forests, and not that difficult to get to from tokyo. Its only just on the other side of Saitama after all. You dont have to go as far as that place to enjoy some of it. And like I said, shinkansen to Takasaki will get half the journey over in no time. Maybe 2.5 hours on limited express from shinjuku.

I recommend checking out the Minakami area too. Especially if you like outdoor adventure activities such as rafting, caving, or canyoning.

Heda Madness: Nice job of taking that literaly. I sorely wanted to be there, but live far enough away for it not to have been an option on the day. Mostly I was referring to the fact that Japan, like many of us, get behind a sport when their own team is winning. Japanese rugby is the best in Asia, but on the world stage they are way behind and the fact is the support is nowhere near as good as it could be. If they beat a respectable team just once, the media would suddenly go crazy, otherwise, most of thier games slip by unnoticed by the media, which is a shame, because even when they lose, they are a good team to watch.

I guess when they let thier kids play instead of wrapping them in cotton wool, the sport will flourish a bit more, and the quality will improve, then the media will pay attention. As of now, many Japanese know nothing of the sport or that the tournament existed. Oh well, Im glad to hear they had a good turn out for the final.
