sorry cleo as I know this is a toughie for you with a daughter on the force. Read 'force'. But it's true, most of the graduate cops seem to keep an eye out for other work these days. The system needs a big overhaul.

Look, nigelboy and your ilk, don't get me started. I've worked with some of these people up close and personal and I can tell you there are some prime lobotomy-gone-wrong boofheads in this keystone force. (small cap by choice) The fundamental issue is this; they have a hard time keeping anyone on the fore as even many of the keystones themselves think its a stupid job, especially the young graduates and hang on till something else comes along for the most part.
Worse, they avoid the stress of crime itself, the very thing they're employed to be doing. So what in fact DO they do Nuts? Look for stress free misdemeanors for the most part, that's what. It's also a Judo/Kendo OB culture and if you're outside this network things can be even grimmer.
It's a long and bitter complaint on my part but I should add, from the right side of the law. I've never had any problems personally but observed their idiocy, sometimes spectacular idiocy first hand and know what I'm talking about.
Pity we couldn't have a few beers and I'd tell you something that I have no doubt would sway you over...

Ah... where have the old days gone? I remember well the days when a trip to any bank one would often see a girl heading out the door with a satchel full of money to make auxiliary deposits somewhere. The boss would call out; 'kiotsukete Mari chan' and that was about it.
A couple of years later, the guys took over, then eventually two guys for added safety. Now we have the full-blown paranoia from the security business reminding us through commercials that we are no longer safe. This is an enormous business anywhere now and the Japanese, never ones to objectively think or observe anything much, have swallowed it hook line and sinker.

Romulus: Whaddya mean the paper plane doesn't say anything about Japan? Lightweight, crumples easily, not much to it, won't go far and hard to control. I'd say it perfectly represents modern Japan.

The facts: 186 people on the waiting list in the LA area died while these pieces of dog crap picked up new livers to the tune of: $520,000 each. Plus the airfares for the surgeon to Japan and the wining and dining and wads of cash. Strip this menace of his medical license... http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-ucla30-2008may30,0,2450157,full.story

There's no doubt in my mind that Bussutil knew exactly what he was doing. That he was also wined, dined, given heaps of cash with all expenses paid jaunts to Japan to see his client, er, patient. In the meantime, deserving people must have died. I say get this guy and publicly pillory the swine. Do read this link... http://www.asianoffbeat.com/default.asp?display=1769

And if anyone had read the Yomiuri article on the same, would realize this piece of crud gave the FBI almost no information at all. The jerk must be smiling everyday now with a new liver and more time to cause more misery to ordinary Japanese people.

The guy can sing and sing well. Good to see him doing so well in this market. He also breathes some new life into the rather stagnant world that is Enka. Hip-hop routines, etc. Very colorful.

Tribal grudges, shamanistic curses, deep age old hatreds are sadly a part of Africa. Modern day Sowheto is overrun with illegal immigrants from other African nations and it's jut a basket case of a country. They're killed on the spot in many cases...Yeah I know, I wish I hadn't said that either, but it is real basket case.

If he's guilty or not, only the man himself knows for sure. I'm not advocating a soft line on drug smugglers, they deserve pretty much what they get. But the 'hang 'em high' Judge Roy Bean mentality of the rjds in this world scare the crap outta me as much as the drug dealers, frankly.

Get him dates? Sure, heaps... A guy near me pulls the same stunt every summer on the promenade with the fluffiest, most over shampooed English Sheepdog anywhere. Areeee!, Squeal!, shriek!, hoshi neeee! and long conversations ensue. I've seen him jot down numbers too. Now where can I get a sheepdog...? Oink...

This is a tragedy and yes, the Keystones are in some way responsible. Why? Because they're super slack. Tough on women driving K cars (hey, it doesn't get any more stress free than hounding a woman in a shopping car) foreigners riding bicycles etc. In other words, they shirk from crime itself and all the other blatant offenders because it's a hassle to deal with... The result is, even more drivers talking on cellphones, watching TV (while driving) and infants standing up with faces pressed near the windscreen.
Mother is buckled up I note because the moron believes she's a 'sabuteee draiba', therefore accidents only happen to others. The biggest bunch of garbage on this planet aka the Japanese police.
RIP and condolences to the family.

The usual overkill. Trout are to be 'understood' as well as consumed and these guys just miss the point. Why not trawl with a net? It's be just as silly as this and any trout worth catching wouldn't be around anyway. They read situations very well and are probably looking up and thinking; 'What is is this? Dorks' Day?"

timborder You're referring to professional boxing, not amateur boxing. The latter is a clean sport with full head, groin protection and no real risk of any injury. Please do not confuse the two.

Nope, don't like this. Don't like it one bit. Call me what ever you want, sexist, whatever, but women have no place in the ring. I've always admired their gentle side (not to mention physiology) and to see this just makes me sad.

Sorry, I meant to say;" in a society with an economy grinding along like a broken-down fan and where most social intercourse...etc," The bad economy is certainly a big factor in all this.

When you live in a society where most social intercourse is through patterns and cultural expectations, enormous internal pressures are gonna build up. Worse, when there are only platitudes from govt. agencies as placebos at best, lots of people implode. Or the nutters explode as we see from recent events. Gonna be a tough summer... Dr. Nuts
