Fadamor; Wrong ... The 'main problem' with the Yamato was it was an overweight behemoth and couldn't turn properly. Worse, the armaments were so heavy and unwieldily as to be almost useless as anything other than a stationary firing platform from a distance. The failure was the design. Jane's Naval History the reliable source.

OK so I'm a killjoy but Just the name gives it away 'yamato' and all that romantic-blood-lunatic nationalistic pride it conjures up. It was a clunker, a real lame duck that couldn't turn, maneuver well and was slow. A real sitting duck for ariel attack which was its fate.

Who the hell cares? Listening to good music through an mp3 format is just dumb. Worse, after years of it, your ears start to think this is the only way music is meant to be heard. It ain't ...

Just another 'formula' TV show. Something to watch when there's absolutley nothing else on to do, and a stretch even then.

Nope, if he says it's 'art' then it is. We just have to accept that. Whether we like it or not is arbitrary. Still, I'm reminded of an artist friend's 't' shirt which read; 'art is anything you can get away with'

It's true, we all 'take potshots at presidents' as is our given right. Some with better insights and information than others and just the reading of some posters immediately reveals the extent of the same. So before you go off about going off, consider that a forum is for that purpose. GW was an abysmal failure ... a real, side-hip hugging, back patting, first name calling moron who inherited a country almost on the make and through idiotic decisions made the wreck that is modern America. Obama will get it right, this I'm sure of.

GW Bush ... just the very name invokes a bad memory. Here's a man who was, along with his sidekick Dick Cheney, a military shirker, coward if you like. They had the audacity to send thousands off to war to be killed, maimed or otherwise psychologically injured looking for non existent WMD. Then almost single-handedly wreck an economy through allowing the markets to run wild and unregulated and now he wants his little piece of history? George belongs in the dustbin of history as the worst that ever was. Go count your millions fella and live with your, what seems to be at long last, growing bad conscience.

seems like a lot of people here, at rock-bottom heart, can't deal with a black president. worse, he's articulate and smart. that's at the murky bottom of a lot of posters comments I feel. just sure of it in fact.

Interesting, I liked the 60s Peanuts strips a lot and yes, it did become outdated and repetitive especially in the last couple of decades. Calvin and Hobbes always seemed fresh and Bill Watterson to his credit, wanted to keep it this way and quit whilst ahead. He also refused to allow Calvin and Hobbes to become commercialized which says a lot as he could have made squillions. I agree, Shulz was in it for the money, especially later on.

BurakuminDes: Sorry, No offense but I find this hard to believe. The JMA has a very strict policy outlined and enforced by hospitals everywhere. Did it happen years ago? Sure, I heard many stories not to mention the large 'gifts' from gangster groups to lawyers everywhere. The kickbacks from medical salespeople is also a thing of the past, on the surface at least. Any doctor accepting dough would be in serious trouble if caught these days. I suspect lawyers being lawyers have I suspect found a way to circumvent these minor inconveniences.

Addendum: The zero tolerance was a nation-wide JMA initiative and if you read Japanese, you'll see a sign usually at the reception desk advising that 'gifts will not be accepted by staff'. These have been around for years.

"Hold out their hands for gift money"? Those days are long gone ... Japanese hospitals have strict policies and have had a zero tolerance of 'gifts' for years. This must have happened a long time ago. I say "sing the praises", there are far more choices with an abundance of clinics and hospitals. The hospitals are generally better equipped and the doctors usually well trained. A silly and outdated policy on organ transplants is admittedly a problem, so are the waiting periods for new drug trails. House calls are out which is a negative point. Otherwise this is a damn fine system and with medical tourists from China about to start, about to become just a wee bit more crowded.

I'm quite sure he universe is far more mysterious and complex than we can possibly ever understand. When I look at the night sky, I'm sure it's teeming with life, highly complex and partially evloved civilizations like our.

OK, OK, you all hear the twilight Zone theme playing, but it is unimaginably vast and we're zilch. Go for it Shindo san.

tkoind2 & WhiteyRocks: My hard charging pals; I didn't necessarily mean 'calling for a priest' rather an act of contrition to a higher power(s). Doctors see this all the time. "Okkkaaasssan!" is usually the last word of dying patients here, as an aside.

tkoind2: As I said, I'm agnostic which means I really don't know. The outcome of if there is a God or not a God is a bit of a coin toss unfortunately. My point is; let people practice as they please. This is not for me either but I'd rather see the man trying to get a life than running a pack of bimbos or whatever. Let people worship whichever faith they choose and if they approach you, it's easy to tell them to take a hike. I do ... Live and let live. This fellow has my respect.
