When my Japanese company loses client data we are required to inform the client. How about the Japanese government? Even the USA's IRS informed taxpayers affected by a recent data leak.

Are they even going to bother to inform those whose info was leaked? I think Japan's revised privacy law requires it.

And that makes everything OK!? Typical example of false logic I see get used all the time. Education system here is good for math basic subject but there is no critical thinking.

I think this must be lost in translation. Please explain how one can threaten with a knife when holding someone in a "full nelson"? If one googles an image of full nelson, it is clear that it take two hands. Where was he holding the knife, between his legs? Perhaps it should say "half nelson" or "headlock".

I know several mothers who want to work but can't find Day Care. If the government would stop wasting money on unnecessary construction projects with very low, or negative, return on capital and instead invest in things to like Day Care centers the country would be much better off. Such investments would create jobs and free up relatively more skilled people to re-enter the work force and add value and tax revenues to Japan's economy.
Once a Dam is built, it hardly employs anyone. It's just a gift to construction companies.

If the Fukushima rice tests at less than 100 becquerels per kilo it's as safe as any Japan produce you're buying in the store because that is the national safety standard limit to be allowed to sell rice and vegetables.

I wonder what Mao would think of all the children of rich Politburo members running around Chinese cities. It's as if what he fought against came to be once again.

Forget about Bo Xilai, pollution, and all the politicians getting rich; we'll make you hate Japanese for an Island that they've controlled for over 100 years.

Taj, Look at Google Maps again. Imeedeiately west and south of the Town office area is near where the landslide was, but further north, around the airport, is basically the flattest place on what is essentially a volcanic mountain sticking out of the ocean. I stand by my assessment as the north being the safest if you are weathering out the storm on the Island (and it actually turns out to be a bad storm). The wannabe cameraman everywhere must be annoying for the locals and rescuers trying to do their job. In a news clip I saw over the weekend there appeared to be more cameramen than there were evacuees at the shelter.

Given how rough the ocean is at the moment, I think it would be safer just to evacuate to the north end of the Island where it's flat. It seems like a bit of an overreaction to leave unless you have a health condition that requires a constant power supply. Besides, I would want to be onsite to inspect my property after the warnings are called off.

Well if he achieves annual growth of 3% then raising th income should follow by default. (1+0.03)^10=1.34 45,000 * 1.34 = 60,300.

I should be noted that with inflation targeted at 2%, he is only talking about real growth of 1%, (3%-2%).
