...and BTW we're all still waiting for you to rip Japan a new one for being so darn TALL in that match against Thailand! The FIVB says Japan's average height is 190.26cm, while Thailand is a mere 176.67cm! Why aren't you angry, Sarge? It's all so unfair! Hahaha...

You thought Australia had a chance? Puh-leeaze.

Finally got the box score and play-by-play on the Serbia match (now that the TV broadcast has finished in Japan). Is this right? Three (!!) missed serves in a row at match freakin' point by Serbia, and Japan still manages to lose?!?! Too funny.... have another cigarette, girls!

I'm not able to follow the box score or the TV coverage for this match, Sarge... tell me, is Sanja Tomasevic (former NCAA All-American and national champion for University of Washington) on the court for Serbia? I know she's on the team, but I assume she's riding the pine as…

...and as an aside, the last time Japan did travel (over a year ago, for the Asian Championships), they were soundly whipped by both Thailand and Kazakhstan.

Japan will be the only team in Beijing (apart from the host country, China) who did not have to travel at all in order to qualify for…

paul1, this is precisely the point I've been trying to make. These women are happy to bow to their sponsors (even if it means promoting cigarettes) because without the sponsors, this "last chance" tournament (read: prime-time TV advertising…
