they have horrible hours - 2 or three days on duty 24/7 - then a day off. they have paperwork by the dumpstersful. they have little experience in forensic work, they are not allowed to or don`t want to enforce the laws on the books - esp. related to traffic - unless there is a campaign. i have always found the police polite and helpful but then again i have never been in trouble. i actually pity them. they are sort of like teachers here in japan. overworked, under-trained, under-staffed and basically immature.

williamsmith - i AM sorry - i was really talking about the WHY, not that he didn`t hit them very hard. the idiot backed up and aimed for them. yes, in other countries as well. but my point is i have never felt so unsafe in THIS country concerning my children, my husband, myself and all those known and unknown. my point is this country is falling apart but no one seems to be doing anything about it.

i just get soooo sick of the "us" and THEM mentality. i am a THEM, by the way. i think that the japanese are so full of the "us" and being "unique" and having extra long intestines blah blah blah that everyone from outside the country is the same. that is very small thinking. people from different countries have different cultures and we should not be lumped together. how about Americajin, Doitsujin etc. etc. etc? and yes, there are other cultures that take off their shoes when they enter their homes, many many people know how to eat with chopsticks and not all foreigers don`t carry umbrellas.
