I question why ANY country needs an aircraft carrier.

Relax, trust me, it happens countless times every day, committed by no doubt a wide range of individuals. The ones that make the news however, are the few committed by people we (or Japanese) prop up as pillars of society - teachers, cops and public servants. The rest you will never hear about.

I think Maehara is the best of a pretty useless bunch, and Seiji is at least a man's name. ^o^
We can't say that for Mr Kano... : )

I agree, Johnny's is the real culprit here. The SMAP members have all donated large amounts privately to the relief project, and other charity projects in the past.
However, I still think as Johnny's biggest cash-cow, they should have the balls to tell their agency where to shove this album being released in their name. Instead it seems they are going along with the scam, which makes them at least somewhat guilty.

The fact is they deliberately starved one of their children to death. Another fact is their other child was found severely malnourished, and it is reasonable to assume that if there was no intervention she would have met the same fate. Their third child died a few months after birth, and given this family's history I think the death is rather fishy.
So, yes, I can boldly proclaim that I could, can and will do far better than they at raising kids - as would no doubt 98% of the population.
And I get mad at people who want to give people like this the benefit of the doubt.

As a Legacy owner I was really hoping Subaru would get their act together with this new car. Unfortunately it looks like another betrayal: "Urban friendly" and "trendy design" are not qualities loyal Subaru owners are looking for.
This new concept car looks like a cheap redesign of the Impreza XV. http://www.subaru-global.com/about/motorshow/ms/2011shanghai/index.html

I think they lost the privilege to be treated like civilised people when they decided to starve their child to death. I don't think starving the parents to to death as punishment is "murder", it is justice.

I'm afraid I have to agree. I'm sorry but I have no compassion for parents who slowly and deliberately torture their children to death.

True, but when people hear the word "child" they automatically associate it with young "children".
I think "fruit of her loins" is a much better alternative.

Sounds like cost-cutting to me. What really worries me is how many other pools is Taisho Corp contracted to keep "safe"? If they cut corners here, what else are they doing? Being a bit stingy on the chlorine? Not cleaning the pools?

crocs with socks... wait a minute, that was me...
In the company I used to work for one of the girls always came to work wearing mini-skirts that were so short you could see her panties when she sat down. The boss never complained about that, but men with beards was a big no-no.

Actually, I'd pick the drink driving as least objectionable. Idiotic, yes, but the teacher is not harming the students in any way.
The second case is physical assault, and the third is sexual harassment/assault.. they should both be fired.

That's all well and good if Qantas customers ride on Qantas planes. Frequently however, Qantas customers (as well as JAL customers) are forced to ride on a code-share flight operated by Jetstar.

Oh I forgot about the Mondeo gyouza mentions... that's about the only ford I think may sell well in Japan - and the only one I'd consider myself. Japanese makers have very few premium wagons (Honda Accord Tourer, Mazda Atenza Wagon, Subaru Legacy are the only 3 I can think of - I wouldn't put the cheaper Toyota Fielder and Nissan Wingroad in the same category).
Euro wagons (BMW, Merc, Audi, Volvo, VW) sell quite well in Japan, so I think an aggressively priced and marketed Mondeo would give the overpriced Euro cars a run for their money.
