I don't know, I personally like twitter. I can get breaking news immediately, I get updates from my frequent sites (JT f.e.) and the people I follow, I can read other peoples thoughts about the last GOT episode, and best of all I can dump complaints (to JT mods) on twitter that nobody cares about. Especially the last one is such a stress reliever.

Building nuclear reactors or other important facilities directly above active faults is prohibited in quake-prone Japan.

Is this really an actual law or a just guideline?

Japan is an entire active fault, yet.....here we are with 63 nuclear power plants. Me thinks someone doesn't know the meaning of prohibited or a brown envelop company had a LOT of orders in the past.

Here a map of all the plants btw <http://apjjf.org/data/japan'snucplants.jpg

save your sanity by avoiding this place entirely during GW

Isn't that sane advice for any popular destination in Japan? Shame though, the only week most of us get a day of and everyone has the same plans.

Yes, that is what we need in Japan, discount events like Black Friday ugh.

Sigh, who comes up with these silly ideas? People don't WANT vouchers they want money, cash, plata.

There is also lingering speculation that Abe will cancel a nationwide sales tax increase scheduled for 2017 and focus more on fiscal spending to raise GDP and rebuild areas damaged by an earthquake in southern Japan earlier this month.

Hah yeah right, I believe they still need money for the new Olympic Stadium etc.

Good luck GB! The Dutchies just finished their referendum a few weeks ago and it did f*** all. The government is completely ignoring a valid 30%+ voter turnout that voted against the Ukraine association agreement. Not only that, it was a shout to become once again a free democratic country that doesn't want to be pressured by the EU. A kind of Nexit referendum. You can read about it here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/article-3525852/Polls-open-Dutch-referendum-EU-Ukraine-trade-deal.html

but if you don't then get out and vote

This is the problem, people gave up hope, there are NO good candidates. Nobody gives a damn about elections unless its a AKB election. But seriously we need to get rid of this pathetic government, we need to put this country back on track.

One of the most important things during a disaster is clean toilets and drinking water, a lot of bacteria and diseases are spread through this, along with distribution another important factor that we need to take care of better in future disaster situations.

Let's hope this is the last big quake for a while.

Am wondering that if a quake that size would hit Kyoto, if anything would still be left standing. That place has tons of old buildings.

That's the 2nd animal to escape within one month, with one death (zebra) and now this chimpanzee hurt, either they need to up the security or better educate the people trying to re-capture the animal how to do it more gently.
