Fake meds of all kinds constitute a real economic force—in Japan it’s a nearly 4 trillion yen a year market....

Fake meds, masks that don't work as advertised. This is not earth-shattering news. Anybody with common sense living in Japan should already know it. But then again, common sense is sometimes lacking in distribution and potency everywhere in the world.

Move forward with the plans to relocate as many as 8,000 Marines and their dependents to Guam.

This will greatly lessen the burden of hosting so many U.S. forces on the small island of Okinawa.

With the Senkaku Islands issue and other concerns in the East China Sea, the Takeshima/Dokdo problem, and constitutional limitations on Japan's Self-Defense Forces, there is no way a complete withdrawal of U.S. forces from Okinawa will happen for many years to come.

By her side was Sun Music Production Inc President Masahisa Aizawa who is currently giving her advice....

She shouldn't need advice from such people if she is sincere in her stated purpose of becoming a caregiver.

    This is nonsense.

The only way to reduce the number of suicides in Japan is to improve the overall socio-economic conditions that have led to Japan having 30,000+ suicides for more than a decade running.

her dream of working as a caregiver

There are rumors that she would receive credits through distance learning courses....

Well, at some point quite a bit of hands-on training would be necessary as it is for the rest of the mere mortals who want to work as caregivers.

I always did my best to pay attention to others when riding the trains around Tokyo, and helped out where I could.

There is no need for "chivalry"-just basic manners.

Had a lot of good times around Takashimaya Times Square.

Never cared much for the "illumination", though.

It is utterly irresponsible for President Obama and Attorney General Holder to give the defendants the rights of American citizens in federal court.

They should have been tried by a military tribunal.

And for the two of them to guarantee a conviction...pathetic.

It's nice seeing a foreigner and a half-Japanese winning the NPB MVP awards.

Slowly, but surely, Japan is making progress.

China holds $2.1 trillion in U.S. Securitys. It's not hard to imagine they can gradually assume a more equal role in any sort of government-level talks with the U.S.

If Japan does not want the U.S. military to continue to provide the bulk of its defense, then it needs to take the necessary measures to change the situation accordingly.

Since it is unwilling to do so, the DPJ is wasting time and effort in attempting to backtrack on the U.S.-Japan accord reached previously by an LDP-led government.

Implementing the already-agreed-upon framework for transferring several thousand Marines and their dependents from to Okinawa to Guam in several years' time will result in a significant lessening of the burden for hosting the U.S. military on Okinawa.

    Get on with it.

I don't think much of Sarah Palin as a potential candidate for any high office in the U.S.-especially the Vice Presidency or the Presidency-yet, that being said, I'm happy for her that she's getting back at some of the jerks who tormented her and her family, and making money in the process.

"Kanda has admitted to the entering the woman’s apartment and said: “I liked her and wanted to know more about her.”

How about starting with a friendly "Hello" at work, followed by a gradual increase in daily conversation when time and the occasion permit?
