I think the U.S. should be proud of the fact that it will win the overall medal total, and equal/surpass not only its gold total of 2004, but very probably top its best ever Olympics medal total of 108 in Barcelona.
I disagree with people who try to diminish the importance of silver and bronze medals. The U.S. has been remarkably consistent with its medal totals in the past 6 Olympics-counting ones in which all countries participated-and taking into account the huge difference in medal events prior to the 1980s. The…
Congratulations to the Japanese men on the bronze medal in the 4X100 relay. The Japan team effort proves that teamwork pays off in the relays, something the Americans were unable to figure out.
I have really heard a lot of strange, fact-challenged statements from a number of Japanese the past few days. The story seems to be developing that the U.S. has done poorly at these Olympics because its gold medal total is behind that of China.
Japan could not shut down Korea, even with its best relievers on the mound like Fujikawa and Iwase. No excuses. Korea was the better team. They beat Japan not once, but twice. Congratulations, Korea!
This Olympic baseball competition also demonstrates unequivocally the weakness of Japanese batters.
I commend the Japanese relay team and many others for showing superior teamwork to the Americans. We have seen clearly in these Olympics that without designer drugs to give them an advantage, the American sprinters have generally come back to the pack. No more sheer dominance from the Justin Gatlins…
The Japanese women showed a lot with their teamwork tonight, which is more than I can say for the under-performing American women, and most certainly better than the pathetic lack of teamwork showed by the American men and women in the 4X100 meter relays.

"If anything, it will be these last three games that helps return softball to the Olympics in 2016."
The only chance of this happening would be if Tokyo were the host city, and I do not see that happening.
