"A cooking demonstration featuring tuna worth a few million yen was also held. Some top porn actresses, who are affiliated with the company, were given bonuses from half a million to 1 million yen."

This quote is pregnant with possibilities as Altria recognizes.

No worries, man, just look around the Internet. The uncensored stuff is everywhere.

The porn industry is recession-proof, and this most certainly holds true for the biz in Japan.

"A 59-year-old police lieutenant was arrested early Monday for violating a Kanagawa public nuisance ordinance, accused of taking pictures on his cell phone of a woman sitting across from him on a train on Sunday."

I credit the guy with the young woman for forcing this perv to go to the station manager's office.

The provisional roster for the U.S. team is pretty impressive. Now let's continue to improve it and have the players show up for training in shape and win the title. There will be no more lucky breaks for Japan. All the other countries, and not just the U.S., will be ready to play this time, and Japan won't get any gifts this time to get out of the second round, let alone win the WBC.

"Aso, who is a Catholic, was apparently referring to the Bible’s description of work as God’s punishment of Adam for disobeying his commands in the Garden of Eden."

"He then referred to Japan’s oldest known book, the Kojiki, which features Japan’s creation myths. In the text, an important sun goddess saw many other deities working."

Myths that people have used to control others and screw up the world time and again.

This is simply pathetic. Click on the link for this site and get bombarded by stories concerning one sex crime after the other.

The daily dose of this kind of news that we get on JT shows how degenerate the country of Japan truly is.

"Iijima had no obvious injuries, police said, adding they believe she either died of an illness or committed suicide. However, an autopsy revealed that she had probably been dead for one week before her body was found, but could not pin down the cause of her death. Several types of pharmaceutical products such as the sleeping pill Halcion and cold medicines—all prescribed by doctors—were found in the condominium but no suicide note was found, police said."

Simply waiting for the toxicology report would be helpful, but then such a common sense approach wouldn't sell in the weekly magazine business.

I'm just sorry that she died so young.

    Capster wrote:

"You can not judge a war looking back on it, it is just not fair to do so."

So I'm glad to hear there is no need for historians in Capster's world.

Or even back-deck discussions of history with my old man. I thought we had informed opinions over the years, what with me being a history major at university and dad spending decades teaching HS social studies.

"It is really easy to judge a war in hindsight. If you want to mull on the past we will never get anywhere."

Spoken like a true head-in-the-sand Bush supporter. Another quote from Capster that should be bronzed and on permanent display.

However, in one sense Capster is correct: We do not need to do any more mulling over the past where the presidency of George W. Bush is concerned. Any intelligent person knows his administration should get a big, fat "F" for most everything it did.

Case closed. Good-bye and good riddance, George W. Bush!

"A 67-year-old taxi driver was found stabbed to death inside his taxi in Higashi Osaka City...."

"The murder follows a similar case on Monday when a taxi driver in neighboring Hyogo Prefecture was also stabbed to death."

And Japan finally sinks into the abyss.

    It was a nice ride.

The timing on this assault is interesting, to say the least.

Of course the U.S. is going to support the bombing, especially when a lame-duck administration misguided for 8 years by Bush/Cheney is virtually ignored by the rest of the world with just days left in office.

Israel has free rein to do what it wants to the Hamas terrorists.

Go, Israel, secure your borders and create peace and prosperity within them!

The never-ending cycle of violence in the Middle East.

    Israel and its neighbors.

    Iraq and sectarian violence.

Afghanistan and its lawless tribal areas and support for terrorists.

Pakistan and its terrorists-stuck between Afghanistan and India.

    The list goes on.

U.S. President-elect Barack Obama will very probably find himself caught up in so many conflicts in the region that his plan for a Great Concrete Society may not come to fruition.

One thing is for sure: 2009 will bring more of the same fighting in the ME that we read about in this article.

She provided me with my first fascination with an AV idol soon after I arrived in Japan in the Navy in 1990.

After learning about her life growing up, I really respected her attempts to move beyond her first profession and establish herself as a star in the mainstream TV business.

It's a terrible shame to see this happen to her, but it was her life, and I hope she found some sense of accomplishment and fulfillment from the time she chose to have.

I was lucky enough to have a chance to work with her on a small project for NHK a couple of years ago. I really respect her for the hard work she put in to learn English, and the drive and determination she has always had to make such a successful acting career for herself.

Japan won't get the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Japan won't get the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

Japan won't get the 2018 Soccer World Cup.

I'd say the 2022 Soccer World Cup is a distinct possibility. That would be just in time to demolish a bunch of stadiums that were built for the 2002 World Cup, and, in many cases, have had little use since then, but have cost the taxpayers bundles for the construction and maintenance.

I love sports, but when the system to acquire the rights to hold such competitions in one's country requires the money and efforts it does a decade or more in advance, then I'd say this is one crazy world.

"Much better if he simply said "My family's business used POWs as labor during the war, which, while regrettable, was not a crime given that Japan did not ratify the 1929 Geneva Convention governing the employment of POWs."

So, by your rationale, kaminarihito, it would also be just fine for Aso to say that Japan's use of chemical and biological weapons in China during WWII was no big deal because Japan had not signed the 1925 Geneva Protocol, and did not do so until 1970.
