High points: Canadian Simon Whitfield getting the silver in the men's triathalon. Japan softball downing the USA. Japanese men going medal-less in baseball. USA 4 x 100 men's AND women's teams with the MASSIVE choke-jobs.
Low points: having to watch the olympics on Japanese tv, where all they show are the Japanese athletes (98% of the time) and NO BASKETBALL shown on basic cable tv, what an absolute FARCE!!!!!!!

Wonder if having Jose Calderon would have made the diff for Spain. He's a great defender and penetrator etc.
I looked and couldn't find the game on tv, an absolute farce that it wasn't shown (if i'm correct in assuming).

all i saw was a team wallowing in their tears as they unwillingly accepted their silver medal. I agree though, lame system where a team who loses in the semi-final (japan) is allowed a backdoor and got their way to the gold medal game. Don't agree with that at all. Is is b/c there's a lack of teams? Or is it a "girls rule" just like how they're not allowed to lead-off and only play 7 innings...

This doesn't surprise me either. a lot of sick things occur in Canada, despite what some posters in here would like to believe, and are clearly in denial.

agree with you guys. I'm not from the UK, but saving major dough from not having to own a car (company pays for train commuting) and all that goes along with it: insurance, repairs, maintenance, soaring gas prices etc, getting taxed WAY LESS, etc.

this is pathetic, when do you ever give it a rest? constantly trying to make Japan look bad. Why don't you end it with "the world" or add Canada as well, since that's where you're from. A LOT worse things happen over there.

like usaronin said, the woman was cheating on him, he saw red, was in shock etc. I live in Saitama (over 4 years), love the place, I go for regular bike rides around saitama and sometimes down to tokyo, and have NEVER witnessed any crime (except for those hot-rods on their motorbikes who speed through red light, whom I've chased down and confronted), although I've def'y seen my share of nutbags and bad drivers, and even WORSE BIKE-RIDERS. Everytime I go riding it's like a death-trap. VERY defensive riding even though I pick up some high speed and ride a lot of the major roads. I see a lot of cops with their chests held high while standing outside their Kobans, but rarely see any action being taken towards all the driving offenses. I was surprised however to see a seatbelt trap once around a corner in Kuki, they busted a woman with her mother (ba-chan) holding their baby in her arms in the front seat (no seatbelts either, hahaha).

Note: that girl on the left doesn't actually have blue hair. Just a wig. I've met her several times and it's actually black.

by smithinjapan: No matter what, a driver takes at least part of the blame in any accident. It doesn't even matter if they're stopped and waiting at a light and someone rear-ends them -- insurance companies take at least 5% of the blame.
Anyway, waste of a life. Poor guy should have just tried to realize there are plenty of fish in the sea, hard as that can be to realize. And man... lying there waiting for a car to hit you... sheesh.
thank you once again for summing everything up so perfectly, why should anyone ever need to comment?

i agree with hughgarse and others, if all he was doing was just looking up as he was walking up the stairs, it should be ok. He was probably hanging around at the bottom of the stairs on a regular basis, and received complaints or something. It's impossible to be arrested for simply looking up a gals skirt while walking up the stairs.

the fact that more than one women does it means it's ok is a "rather silly" notion.
really now, are you saying that certain places aren't more dangerous than others for foreign women (or any women for that matter) to be all by themselves? Or that it's ok for women to be off galavanting anywhere they please and there is no possibility for them to run into a mentally disturbed person when there's no one around to offer help? Would you let your mother/sister/daughter do that trip on her own?
Seems like this women isn't the only naive person out there.
Like Molenir stated with his fantastic description, this area is def'y out there. Sounds like some places are quite dangerous as far as the risk of physical danger is concernd. This person was def'y not smart to go there alone.
