Kim was unbelievable. Asada did well but looked a poor loser by crying for the NHK interview and standing on the podium looking miserable. Rochette wasn't far behind Asada in performance, got a bronze, and was warm and gracious throughout, even after having gone through a lot more in the past few days than anyone.

And what would you have done in a divorce settlement? Ignore the truth and take the blame on yourself? I am well-acquainted with this case, and I know that any woman who is caught in multiple affairs simultaneously (as was the case here) should not so easily be considered qualified to receive sole custody. Is it in the best interest of the child to be raised by a mother like that? And to have the father shut out with no recourse to the law? Why should DelVecchio not present evidence of his wife's transgressions?

There's a pretty obvious difference between fat people and tall people. Fat people can lose weight; tall people can't get shorter.

One of the better shots I've seen of Fuji. Normally the photos idolize it, this pic gives a nice feel of the geological roughness of it. And with all those clouds leeching on to it. Great!

"just a bit of sauce" and using "asari" for clam chowder -- Japanese touches? Or just being cheap? A good burger is about simple quality and oomph. Cut out trying to be fancy or delicate.

Here's one answer from another site:
Japan's Disaster and Management Agency official Seiji Amano said the government was gathering information to prepare for an intervention. Tokyo sent scores of rescue workers to Indonesia's quake-hit Sumatra region last year.
Hamada [a professor] said Japan, which suffers about 20 percent of the world's most powerful earthquakes, is likely to send technical support teams two to three weeks after the disaster to assess and repair damaged infrastructure.
"The reason why Japan sends aid in this third stage is because we have so much experience in dealing with the aftermath of quakes," he said.
Hamada added that Japan would likely send a handful of engineers to assess public buildings such as schools and hospitals, checking them for damage such as hairline cracks invisible to the naked eye. (By Kimiko de Freytas-Tamura/ AFP)

A major tragedy. No word about it on the morning J-television though. Apparently it's not as important as the comedian who's sailing around the world with prostate cancer. Maybe when they find out there was a Japanese killed in the Haiti quake it will become a major story. Shame on Japanese TV.

The best security would be to give all passengers a generally anesthetic before boarding, then strip everyone to their birthday suits, put them in diapers, and nestle them in a warm cocoon on the aircraft. All necessary medications and nutrients would be administered by drip. And then one armed air marshall at the back, laughing at the naked flabby passengers. Everyone would lose their rights, but it would take the misery and fear out of flying.
