"it states that compared to threats against previous president elects and cases of post-election violence, incidents of violence and reported threats have been MUCH higher."
Can we please bring just a little critical thinking to bear on this. Good old Yankee ingenuity (the internet, cell phones etc.) has resulted in greatly increased means whereby one can report such incidents.
So yes, I don't doubt that reports are up.
Up since the Catholic John Kennedy won the presidency? I don't know. I don't really care to speculate.
If the issue is race and the presidency, personally I'd say there are much, much bigger and positive stories out there.
It all depends on what your angle is.
I'm a little disappointed with the one this site has gone with.

"There have been hundreds of incidents since the election, many more than usual, said Mark Potok, director of the Intelligence Project at the Southern Poverty Law Center, which monitors hate crimes."
I don't doubt there have been a lot of hate crimes recently. Whether or not we have a rise in them I am not convinced, especially when the source is the Southern Poverty Law Center. The current definition, for political purposes, includes some pretty tame stuff. 'Hate crime' ia always out there. I believe it to be an unfortunate constant in America - and not America alone. For every crime like the ones detailed in the article above I would wager that there is not a little misguided triumphalism prompting Obama's supporters to also get ugly. Witness the fact that from the same web site where this report was probably culled from is one detailing how no less than six different federal agencies wanted to make private the records of this Joe the Plumber guy. In my book this is no less heinous than 'race hate', and I say that as someone who has more than once been a victim of a 'hate crime', though in modern America if you are or even appear 'white' and the perp isn't the agencies that monitor these don't consider your misfortune something to be classified as a 'hate crime.'
Each and every instance is unfortunate and morally indefensible.
Only an idiot would surmise that because you don't rush to frantically parade your conscience and your imaginary impeccable PC cred by denouncing them that you actually condone them.

"And I totally disagree. The damage done to this country by an act of violence against the president-elect will be incalculable, and something I don't believe possible to be taken too seriously."
If by incalculable damage you mean the unplanned ascension of Joe Biden to president I would say I am in complete agreement.

"In fact, he is now calling on all Americans to unite, and I believe if anyone has the power to do it, he does. He isn't doing so with the typical fear tactics of the Republican party, he's doing so in a style befitting former and wonderful leaders like JFK."
Obama can call all he wants. You can't legislate goodwill between people. He needs to act. Start with dissolving ACORN. Face the Freddy Mac crisis squarely. Admit that forcing banks to lend to buyers who are not creditworthy but happen to be minorities is not sound fiscal policy, no matter how far it goes in satisfying many liberals' pathological need to believe they are saving mankind from itself.

"Yet again, we see the source of this comment trivializing and demeaning a very serious issue, were some act of violence to be attempted to the president-elect."
The only thing I was trivializing is the melodrama here. The country is not going to 'literally' split in half if there is an attempt on the life of the president-elect or his eventual successor.
As for violence being done to a president, if a guy as harmless as Gerald Ford can be a target I think the nutjobs (and there are plenty on both sides) will go after anyone in the WH.

This is a video of a report which breaks down the voting in California. Blacks voted 70 percent in favor of that state's proposition 8, essentially defining marriage as between a man and a woman.
Latinos, America's largest minority group, were the second largest supporters.

"White America in my opinion has past the test. They have in overwhelming numbers rejected those jurassic notions of race and its inherent right to leadership."
It's a test you yourself have yet to pas if you feel that any and all opposition to Obama is racist in origin - and emanating solely from "White America."

Can white males take comfort in the knowledge that six different federal agencies scoured records belonging to 'Joe the Plumber's' with the intent of making them public via our supposedly neutral media?

I really don't understand what some of this thread is about. Why are people talking about the Taliban and Texas?
The Ayers - Obama nexus is Chicago, though some people say that the two met while Obama was at Columbia, since Ayers was living in New York then.

Pretty depressing stuff. As bad as the stories about kids with "McCain Girl" t-shirts being told by classmates (and with teacher's apparent approval) that they ought to be crucified.
It's a shame that political discourse has gotten this ugly. When it's children doing the trash talking you know they hear it at home first.
How do the major networks expect a ten or twelve year-old kid is going to respond to childish and hate-filled garbage like Keith Olbermann and his "Worst person in the world" routine.
