Contrary to what willB will have us believe, the extermination of one great evil, the personification of satan itself, will send a clear message to other satans, waiting to replace bin laden: we will get you, like we did BL, and likely it won't take 10 years.

This successful op means a great boost to the pride and determination of US intelligence, the military, the White House and the people of the United States. Let the naysayers suffocate in their idiocy.

    Well, thank you, Yoshiki!

The auction was not briefly suspended, it was almost a week, and the fraud should be prosecuted as a bid at an auction is a legal contract, a commitment.

This is a very good but laden picture. Kim is not a sore loser (with 1 'o'), she is overcome by emotions. Very much human. Miki is definitely not smirking. She knows exactly how her rival is feeling. She's been there and she's not reveling in her opponent's loss. Suggesting otherwise is done by those who have not followed Ando's efforts to the top throughout the years. The interviews she's given along the way. The decency and humanity she's brought into the rink and beyond, in addition to the sheer hard work and dedication.

Japanese people are like little chicks in the nest ... Kan is a real unprofessional with no ideas . . . He had several opportunities to regain the public support in this crisis . . . Kan has done an absolutely horrible job, and still is . . . Thusfar, PM Kan has refused to honor the DPJ Manifesto

The Kyodo survey is nothing more than manipulation of public opinion. And allow me to quote John Lawton, a veteran reporter, Quote: "The irony of the Information Age is that it has given new respectability to uninformed opinion." Unquote.

Philips was, however, ahead of Sony in its development of Laser Disc technology, which Compact Disc tech was ultimately based on.

Right. The standing CD format was jointly developed by Philips and Sony; Philips contributing their laser technology and Sony error correction technology.

The cooperation was of great benefit to both rival companies and of course the entire recording industry as it eliminated confusing different standards by other companies.

    Mr. Ohga rest in peace.

Everywhere where they get "freedom", the Arab masses take the chance to run away. Sarkozy must feel really good now.

No ground for putting the blame on Sarkozy if that is the gist of the sarcasm. The EU immigration policies are a real mess.

I remember when the so-called weight tax was imposed on automobiles in the 1960s to finance the construction of the high speed shinkansen tracks. This tax was supposed to be temporary too. We are still paying it more than 40 years hence. The national railways were mismanaged on an unbelievable scale raking up debts you can hardly imagine. Paying these off will take forever.

Another temporary tax? No thank you. I would agree with Everfeit. Issue bonds. The economy cannot take any more tax shocks. People would reduce spending even more.

Apparently japanese cannot understand how summertime time works. Ask around! It's like you were told that they are going to change gravity rules to save energy.

Oh, yes. Read through these posts here. 'The Japanese this, the Japanese that' like they're from a different planet. And 'we' have all the answers; only 'we' know what summertime is. The whole nation of Japan being so different from 'ourselves' haven't got a clue; the wisdom is ours. Of course. What arrogance.

This is funny. As if anyone promoting gun control would make that claim.

It isn't funny and I certainly was not making 'that claim'. Perhaps we speak a different language.

What would be shocking is if anyone seriously expected to be protected all of the time by gun control. Its like getting rid of your bullet proof vest because you might get hit by a car anyway.

    I appreciate this intelligent analysis.

Nobody knows yet exactly what kind of firearm was used

The term machine gun was used by a witness and the media reported this. The media initially also reported the mother of the shooter had been killed, which was not true.

This incident is shocking proof strict gun control cannot protect everyone all of the time.

Yes, medieval beliefs about the role of government. See some people want taxpayers to pay to kill babies. A group that unlike women, actually can't defend themselves, nor do they have a voice.

Wow, you said it. 'want taxpayers to kill babies'. I suppose it is futile to list what the taxpayers are paying for as it is clear which side of the fence you are on. A fence that divides you and the anti abortion league from the rest of the civilized world. Surely you are not imagining you could save the budget by denying abortions. And by the way 'killing babies' would be barbaric. That's not what it is, but the expression may suit your purpose. Just my opinion and no offence intended.

Trying to deny funding to Planned Parenthood? This isn't about limiting spending. It's about different principles. It indicates a segment of the population adhering to medieval beliefs. It targets people, women actually, who can't defend themselves. Pretty low.

Last week or so I said a supermarket near me was selling 1-liter containers of milk for 348 yen, I imagine some people thought I was just spreading false rumors, but it was in fact the truth.

Doesn't seem unusual. There is cheap milk and there is pricey milk.

And . . . spreading rumors is only prosecutable if malicious intent can be proven in court.

It is beyond my comprehension what the Afghans really want. But it seems freedom, democracy, peace are not at the top of their priorities. What we have here is like a huge cauldron of a lethal poisonous brew that had better be left alone.
