An awful lot of speculation on what was behind the father's motives in the comments so far. It's a sad story. Hopefully the girl still has a future.

Abuse of emergency services should be severely dealt with because the service might become unavailable to those who really need it.

so called world leaders have the AUDACITY to even begin to talk about JUNK food? Go to a poor barrio, etc..this food is not junk!

I may be missing something here. So bear with me. The junk food ads are aimed at the starving kids, in order to save them? Not the marketers riding on their backs? So the junk food manufacturers are practicing a form of social welfare? Isn't that laudable. Making sure that those who do have more money to spare get access to these tasty but destructive foods is laudable too, of course. It doesn't matter these consumers die a bit later than those in the former group of multiple diseases. Right. The UN should ignore the problem.

Even with all the modern ways of booking flights online, choosing seats, printing tickets and boarding passes, airlines still overbook to ensure all the seats are taken. Your printed confirmation is no guarantee offered by the airline. Make no mistake about it. In most cases you do get your seat of preference, but not always. If not the carrier may offer you a seat in a different class or on a different flight with compensation. That's the way it works.

Apple is not an ordinary company. It's a cult with an extraordinary aura. It will survive if a Jobs' clone takes over from the current CEO. If no clone appears Apple is doomed to be a company like NEC, Hewlett Packard or the likes.

And once a dictator, who preserves modernity by force, is gone, they will vote themselves into a Sharia state

You have a point here, but I hope this is not going to happen. That certainly won't bring any economic benefit to the people of Tunisia.

Rep Trent Franks, an Arizona Republican, rejected arguments that U.S. gun laws were at fault, saying that it was not the gun that was to blame in the Tucson attacks but the shooter, Loughner

Repeating the same old stale lame cliche.

Guns don't kill people, people kill people.

    Often repeated cliche.

There is this proverb Opportunity makes a thief. I see an analogy here in the way guns are so easily available in the USA. A determined criminal will always find a way to achieve his goal, but this nut acted on the spur of the moment. Guns need to be outlawed but those making a fortune off the trade with lobbying in congress won't allow it. The annual death toll means nothing to them.

Whether these girls can sing well - very subjective - or are lip syncing, or whatever, is not the point. They are entertainers and have a huge following. And that's all that matters.

Not only Toshiba produces microwave ovens without turntables. This is possible due to vastly improved inverter technology which guarantees an even distribution of heat.

I recently bought a large Toshiba microwave oven/convection oven/steam oven all in one. In one word: fantastic.

Many people seem to be incapable to comprehend that freedom of speech, guaranteed under the constitution, is not a free ticket to insult, to use foul language, to make veiled threats or make statements that can be interpreted as threats or to make poor attempts at satire, humor or otherwise stupid, tasteless remarks that can be interpreted as damaging or threatening behavior. A revision of the constitution is in order to accommodate everyone with the urge to provoke under the guise of 'freedom of speech'.
