The fact that dubious and clearly wrong calls cannot be discussed is plain archaic and stupid.

How convenient. Let the public guess now where you will stand

Not wanting to steal your lines, but this is exactly what I thought.

I am pretty sure that people perform better at their jobs if they are able to take a day or two off, than if they try and work straight for months at a time.

You are so right about that. The frustrated Japanese salaryman goes playing pachinko and the BP head, who incidentally is directly responsible for the destruction of the livelihoods of millions plus a huge swath of nature, goes sailing his luxury yacht. Everything in the right proportions.

Hayward will be back on the job, totally refreshed, to solve all his company's problems to the satisfaction of all.

Beautiful couple. And I fail to detect what is awkward about the Japanese crown prince.

This is good news for Mississipi where the workers are more interested in getting bread on the table than listening to loud mouth King.

King pledged a banner campaign at Toyota dealerships to tell customers that Toyota puts profits before people.

Hope he'll get arrested for trespassing and obstruction of business.

Utah, the state where the gun culture continues to thrive, perhaps is not so uncomfortable with firing squads as it might be elsewhere.

That said, the death penalty remains a state sanctioned revenge killing. People justify it by calling it justice. Hard to imagine a greater misnomer.

tkoind2, I underwrite everything you said. Thank you.

Watch this net service get shut down faster than if they had kiddy-porn!

No problem. It's already all over the net. And being downloaded by those who want to and know how to.

Spring of this year I visited a small country in western Europe: the Netherlands. Even the smallest village has its collecting points for recyclable goods. The town I stayed in has a population of 20 thousand, but the containers for glass, foot ware and clothes are found in at least 3 different locations. There are separate containers for white glass (transparent), green glass and brown glass. No need for the local authorities to dispatch trucks for collecting; citizens do the work themselves - very efficient. The containers for clothes and foot ware are painted green and belong to the Red Cross. When you have to dump something you pack the items in tied plastic bags, open the hatch near the top and dispose of your items. Japan can learn a thing or two here. There are enough large shopping centers now that have the space for mentioned containers and even if these spaces aren't evenly spread, the spaces can be created by the money that is saved by eliminating these noisy, polluting trucks running around all the time.

Can we be clear - is this just Uniqlo items they accept?

Yep. Uniqlo is only for Uniqlo.

And then there is the Salvation Army. They are not picky like Uniqlo and that's where we take our used but still perfectly clean and wearable clothes.

6 wedding ceremonies. Now that's what I call overkill. I guess the 'talent' (what talent exactly?)was more focused on the show, the extravagance and hype of the ceremonies than getting married.

Lego is great because in addition to its educational and recreational value the materials are used to build scale models of civil engineering projects like bridges, cranes and waterway locks before putting those into production.

The more screaming we hear and the more protests we see from zealots, the more public awareness will rise to something being wrong here. The film is all over the internet on file sharing sites. Very easy to download. The producers won't mind.

He said ousting Saddam Hussein “was the right thing to do and the world is a better place without him.”

He hasn't changed (t)his tune since the world found out there weren't any WMDs. Bush doesn't/didn't care. He had to have his war, whatever the price. Nor do millions of Americans today care. They want Bush to deliver his educational speeches.

    Traveling in style.

    You mean training in style.

I saw this on TV (NHK, of course) last night. The men looked really tired (no wonder after a 16 hour flight), but they appreciated the hearty welcome they got and tried to smile. Wish them luck.

Reuters now tells us about the torpedo:

Quote: The metallic debris and chemical residue appear to be consistent with a type of torpedo made in Germany, indicating the North may have been trying to disguise its involvement by avoiding arms made by allies China and Russia, Yonhap quoted the official as saying.Unquote
