Home cooked meals are the way to go. And Cleo's spot on. Teach your kids to cook for themselves

Exactly. My daughters had cooking duty once weekly from first grade. Grown up now with children of their own they are excellent cooks who cook well balanced healthy meals for their families.

A sodium packed scorched grease patty once in a while won't kill you (outright), but millions, if not billions, learn to love it - and if that is not addiction, what is it then?

They're laughing at the superior intellect.

Laughing into their graves still not knowing what they were laughing at. 'Intellect' being an unknown word not in their vocabulary.

"What was the point really?" Why are you climbing this mountain? Because it's there...

I don't think you read the article, nor are you serious in your response. But that's you, I imagine.

I believe McDonald's has raked in more money in the past year than in any other year. Apparently many people like McD's.

They don't know any better. The road to donald is so easy.

McDonald and countless other fast/junk food enterprises are filling a gap, profiting from the ignorance and neglect of families to provide proper meals. The (only) 2 children my wife and I raised never felt the need to frequent mentioned establishments.

The torpedo that sank the Cheonan frigate could be the one captured from the Sang-O class midget submarine in 1996 but fired by an unknown nationality submarine, they are 21inch torpedo tubes!

Now let your fantasy run wild in Hollywood style. Maybe there were aliens.

oh go live in Kyoto will ya. Buildings have to be renovated, thats life.

Exactly. Destruction in the name of progress.

If Italians had thought that way we wouldn't even know today what the Roman empire was.

In a statement, Taiwan’s Intellectual Property Office said the question of whether adult films are creative works needed to be decided on a case-by-base basis.

    Excuse me? Case-by-base?

Probably case-by-case. And that seems like a dumb response to me. It would mean that pornographic material that is not deemed creative can be copied, multiplied, sold and shown on all networks and thru all media without impunity and restrictions. Now that will open up a new can of worms.

Japan is 20-30 years behind the US and Canada when it comes to banning smoking

I have some doubt about that number, but anyway the gap is closing fast I am happy to say. Sure, vending machines are everywhere, but you can only buy from them with a special pass and in my community at least convenience stores don't sell to young people. There are always ways to circumvent the law, but things are definitely changing.

Gradually increasing the price of tobacco will discourage people to start smoking.

Smoking and free speech? Argue that in China. They will tell you you can smoke all you want, anywhere, anytime.

    Mahmoud Ahmadinejad

Praiseworthy, glorified president of Iran is an orator who manages to keep some people in his country glued to his speeches, especially if they deride other nations and then again if they deride the United States of America, its culture, democracy, political system, its leaders. Some accomplishment. In the land of the blind . . .

The glorified one is very shrewd. He doesn't believe in what he is saying himself, but he knows how to work towards getting what he wants by making Iranians believe what he is shouting.

The praiseworthy becomes less praiseworthy when he reveals himself by labeling the leader of the biggest democratic nation in the world as a cowboy, because Mahmoud cannot have his way with nuclear power. It indicates his weakness, his narrow-mindedness and his lack of decisive arguments. Probably works well in front of a well-trained crowd in Iran, but not on an international stage.

What the 'Arab world' thinks of president Obama would place them on the list of village idiots - if they imagine themselves to be playing any role in world affairs. But let's not fool ourselves thinking the Arab world is united in any way - except in greed.

The fact remains Ahmedinejad knows that Obama is a joke, and he can do anything and say anything and Obama will accept it.

That depends on your perception of a 'joke'. If it means Obama is not going to follow the example of his predecessors invading Iran and trying the same thing they did in Iraq - well, yes then he is a joke. Probably a joke Americans appreciate. Loud-mouthed dictator orators should be ignored.

Toyota will happily pay the fine. Cheap advertising. LaHood satisfied, Toyota satisfied. The consumer satisfied. More vehicles will be sold, American Toyota employees will keep their jobs.

The sticking pedals involved 2.3 million vehicles.

What nonsense. The 2.3 million vehicles were equipped with the same pedals manufactured by the same US company as the few that developed a problem. It does not mean 2.3 million vehicles were equipped with defective pedals.

Very disappointing. Obama is now opting for the easy way. And instead of conserving energy and exploring and developing clean energy sources he has caved in to pressure of interest groups who go for the easy buck.

For a bit of imagery, Obama stood in front of a Navy F-18 fighter scheduled to fly on Earth Day with a half-biomass fuel mix.

Bad publicity - poor judgment. Where does the biomass fuel come from? Not by any chance from food crops that could feed the millions and millions of people starving?
