It is all a crock. The biggest health issue in North America is that the population is fundamentally unhealthy. Health care costs have been rising faster than inflation for years because people are just plain getting fatter and eating unhealthy food. There is a direct correlation between the consistent increasing levels of obesity over the past few decades and increasing health costs.
It is quite simple, want cheaper health care; get off your fat butt!!!

Japanese police are great, and I mean that. Brave and gallant. One man tried to break up a fight and then when attacked he fired warning shots. A successful outcome; nobody shot. I'm sure they will be able to round up the suspects and if not it is a minor crime and the suspect is not likely to hit a cop again. Unfortunately, in other countries the cop would have shot and killed the suspects; a bad outcome.

I am not American but pay a bit of tax there and I do hope they spend it on free health care for all.

If you are ever in the area it is worth a little trip down to the water's edge to observe the current; it is like standing beside a swift moving river. Sea lanes are very well defined; almost like a highway and it works well except when somebody crosses the "center line."

And how much money did News Corp make off of the death of Michael Jackson without contributing a cent to his estate?
I think News Corp had batter start paying the newsmakers. The entire industry is parasitic. They prey on the misfortune of others. What a sick business; to line their pockets reporting on car crashes and human suffering. One of today's headlines in the New York Post is "Queens teen mowed down" No crime was committed but News Corp showed me an ad and pocked some cash thanks to the death of a 15 year old girl.
Blood-thirsty leaches!

The plane was redesigned last month and will be mostly aluminum. Only 10% will be composite material; just the tail section.
The PW1000G engine claims to reduce fuel consumption by 15%.
The Bombardier C Series will contain 46% composite materials when it enters service in 2013. It will also use the PW1000G engine.
MITI has been a big supporter of this project with tax money which is kind of a self inflicted wound as Kawasaki does a lot of work for both Embraer and Boeing. However, Mitsubishi is developing the ATD-X Shinshin stealth fighter.

I don't think it really matters who is president; from the lowly herdsman right up the the president of Afghanistan, everyone in the entire country switched allegiance faster and more frequently than a junior high school girl and they are half as loyal. Karzi used to be taleban.

Shanabelle - He has never been accused of paedophilia; that is a different crime. I hope he is extradited and given the maximum sentence prescribed by the laws of California but I fear he will get off without further sanction.
It seems to me that many prosecutors in Western countries these days really go after "average Joes" with everything they have and take it easy on the rich and or famous. An 18 year old man that slept with his girlfriend would be in big trouble but I bet they make a deal for this guy.

Blind people are sort of "sacred cows" in Japan. They spend a lot of money building the yellow ridges in all the sidewalks but those same ridges create uneven surfaces that result in many falls and injuries in seniors.

sicklittlemonkey Listen bub, your argument that just because animals do it holds no water. Infanticide occurs is far more species than homosexuality but if a human does it, it is a crime.
And let me state this firmly for you, I strongly believe that homosexuality is NOT a crime and is quite normal, I am just pointing out the absurd weakness in your argument. The argument that "insert conduct here" is normal because it occurs in animals does not hold up, will never hold up and would be laughed out of every court in the world.

Just because some animals display homosexuality does not by itself mean a darn thing and is a rather useless tidbit of information. Animals also experience depression, eat their young, and let the old be eaten by lions but that in itself does not mean a thing for humans.
Anyway it is none of my business what other people do or how they feel.
Not being gay, I really have no clue about the scene in Japan but I would hazard a guess that the percentage of foreigners in Japan that are gay is well above the average. I have met many gay foreigners, particularly Americans in Japan that seem to come here because they can be free here, come out of the closet and not have to hide their personality from their family and church. They are also free from the "fruity" gay scene. Most seem to be "manly" men that like to wear suits and are turned off by the "nutty" gays in the US.
Be free in Japan, every bar is a gay bar when you are in it!
