teleprompter, your theory on people crossing borders is idiotic as thousands of Americans from as far away as Minnesota travel to Mexico for health care and dental work. California has a similar population to Canada but 1 000 000 Californians go to Mexico every year for health care but only a fraction of that number of Canadians travel to a foreign country for health care and most of those travel to see a specialist.

OneGorAll I don't think it really matters, even if most people are pro-life, the thing is, I don't think that single divisive issues can any longer be counted on to gather many votes except for extremes on both sides.

George Will, often claims that America is a right of center country, but I don't believe it. He must be only counting issues like abortion and gays in the army. There are not too many countries more liberal than the US. How many cities, anywhere are more liberal than New York? Besides the "hot button" issues I think Americans are some of the most liberal people in the world. The mid term elections are swiftly approaching and if the GOP keeps playing to the right they are going to be crushed again.

Sad. Democracy works best when there is more than one political party. The republicans need to get their act together to provide a real alternative and to keep the pressure on those now in power. The farther they go down the Limbaugh road, the more unelectable they become and the more powerful and untouchable Pelosi becomes. Like it or not, I think they need votes from people outside the anti-gay, anti-abortion crowd.

I believe the US truly regrets the loss of civilian life but possibly they place too little value on the civilians. Surely, there must be a road to victory without killing so many civilians. Patients would serve NATO better. Couldn't they have surrounded the town and starved out the enemy?

...and Judaism is a Zorostarian reform movement. The Jews did nothing when the Romans were feeding the Christians to the lions and the Catholic church did nothing when Hitler killed 7 million Jews. 'Inseparable bond' since 1946, so in 2000 years they get along for 60; works out to 3% of the time.

This professor grew up in a different time when students wanted to think more. I'm sure he would give an A+ to any student who wrote a good paper with an opposing view. These days many, but certainly not all, students are just trying to get a piece of paper without having to think. Are students so dumb these days to accept, as fact everything a professor says?

Anyway, as he is Jewish, he will probably skate away even if the Academic Senate finds he broke the rules.

Anyway good job on the shooting. Takes great skill to make a hit on the sea. I have heard of recent developments in "guide" bullet technology, I wonder if they had "guided" bullets.

The Mexican problem is caused by poor American border security and American demand for drugs. Homeland security cannot, after decades, stop tonnes of cocaine and weapons from moving across the border but they are supposed to keep one bomb out. Close the border, period; keep the drugs out and the money in.

I sort of hope all he does is listen. Eight years of being left alone, without American involvement has been pretty good for most of South America and the only place Bush got involved in was Columbia and that has turned out well for Columbia; hasn't made a dint in the coke trade but it has given Columbia the strong central government that they needed. Chalk one up for the Bush administration. Just leave South American policy alone and concentrate on the Mexican problem.

I think they are not needed to analyze farming trends. JA already has plenty of data on farming trends. Likewise, they are not needed to watch for traffic jams as virtually every road in Japan has real time traffic monitoring now with all those overhead "car counters" that stream data on the number of vehicles, the distance between vehicles, and the speed of vehicles. There are rooms full of police that monitor the data and video feeds and the computers automatically adjust the traffic light timing depending on traffic levels.

Don't worry, she will not get the death penalty. Part of North American culture is that men are "evil" by nature and any man that commits a crime must be punished fully but women are "pure by nature and can never be "evil." If a woman commits a crime it is always because she is sick and needs treatment. I'm sure it was hormones, wink wink, and the poor woman is a victim of not getting proper care for her delicate condition.

The UN and everyone else is looking the other way because nobody wants to put a stop to the "opportunity of a lifetime" to dump the world's toxic waste of the coast of Somalia. Paying the pirates is still a lot cheaper than the cost of properly disposing of the gunk being dumped.
