Colin Powell always served his master, from the time he tried to cover up the My Lai Massacre to his speech at the UN but I think he is speaking freely by his own will in endorsing Obama because he is retired and only serves himself.

Can I ask a question regarding the cutting of taxes for 95% of American workers when 40% of Americans don't pay taxes? Just off the top of my head I don't see anything wrong with those numbers. I don't believe all Americans are workers. Lump in all the kids, retired people, people in jail, stay at home spouses and probably only 60% of Americans are workers who pay taxes. And out of the 60% of Americans that work Obama seems to be promising that 95% of them will have their taxes cut. Looks good to me.

If Obama can draw 100 000 people in St Louis two weeks before the election, I don't think it is as close as the polls show.

Perhaps the FBI could spend some time investigating YPM, Young Political Majors, which gets paid $10 from the republican party for tricking people into messing up their registration by asking them to sign fake petitions.

Obama is in trouble, he does not have a big enough lead in swing states to win. I figure the republicans are kicking at least 5% of Obama voters off the rolls so he needs at least a 6% advantage to win.

And just to make the Acorn story a little bit more interesting Obama's lawyer is asking for in investigation on illegal information transfers from the DoJ in co-operation with the White House to McCain/Palin. Did Palin illegally collaborate with the DoJ?

Good, now can they stop showing those annoying anti-piracy videos. I have not been to a Toho cinema for a long time because I got sick of paying money to watch videos aimed at pirates.

People don't care about visual quality so much these days. Just like music, convenience trumps quality. How many kids use Ogg Vorbis vs. MP3? About 1 in 10 000. Likewise how many people get their TVs calibrated? Probably about 1 in 20 000. Want good visuals, spend 30 000-50 000 yen and get your TV calibrated.

Why support the stock market? It will find the bottom all by itself and as most savers in Japan have their money in low risk bank deposits, the average Koji is left with their savings.

Things are not all roses up north but there are no compelling issues or immediate problems that need to be resolved by "tossing out the bums." And if the government goes to pot one advantage of the parliamentary system is that the bums can be thrown out at any time or the ruling party can dump the PM and put in somebody else. Five years is a long time and all governments tend to become corrupted over that time unless their feet are constantly held to the fire.

I can't imagine what kind of president Obama will be but it will be a good thing that he wins. America's low image will take a huge jump and that is a good thing for everyone. I don't expect any real change but with the sun shining on the US, everyone from France to Afghanistan will be more co-operative.

There is a danger that McCain will destroy the republican party for a generation. The majority of American want nothing to do with the far left and have mistakenly assumed the the dems represent the crazy left. Likewise the majority want nothing to do with the crazy far right. If McCain appears to represent the crazy far right the center will abandon the party for a generation.

So Ford is going to sell probably the only profitable bit it has left; management is going to loot every last penny before it goes broke.

Rajakumar, Money into system = more money down the toilet. No government has anywhere near the trillions of dollars to back up the debt that is unwinding. A couple of trillion dollars pumped in by governments is a drop in the bucket, i.e. not anywhere near enough to have any impact. There is over a trillion dollars in outstanding swaps on one company, GM, alone. Perhaps the US should nationalize the Fed and start issuing new currency.

I think they should make a police training video of this and share it with other countries so they can learn how to resolve a situation without the use of force. Good job, Japanese police for getting the situation resolved without having to kill a man! I have more and more respect everyday for the roll Japanese police fill as peace officers not acting like overlords.
