Director: Places people. OK, Wen and Lee shake hands and smile. Look happy. Hatoyama, well, stand back and smile.
Lee: So I shake hands and smile?
Director: Thats right sweety, shake hands and smile.
Wen: So I shake hands and smile?
Director: Oh for God's sake, that's all you do. Don't talk, just shake hands and smile.
Hatoyama: Is my shirt OK?
Director: No it sucks, but there is no time to change. Just stand back and let the real actors handle it.
Hatoyama: Un, un, wakarimashita.

Really, and Miyazaki is non-Taiji and there are plenty of natives here pissed about the dolphin hunt. They also cheer the movie won an Oscar, regardless of how Mino Monta feels.
Before you speak for all of Nippon be sure you know how all of Nippon feels.

But Branded you miss the enire point:
Your ideas would never be accepted here. They all are fresh and inventive. 2 words the old stuffed shirts at NPB (Nippon Pro Baseball) hate.
I agree about Valentine, but do not forget Hillman at Nippon Ham. He also wrote a book on getting a second rate team to the top. Signing Darvish who other teams saw as a "Problem". And also taking US players and telling superstar love boy Shinjo it was over.
The problem with NPB is the nationalist attitude like the JSA has. Until each player is rated on actual talent instead of media love fest, then you will have the current situation. And if the player is Japanese the greater the love fest is.
Look at Woods with Chunichi, never ever once thanked for his RBIs, HRs, or BBs. He had more than any player the last three seasons, yet the Japanese players get the attention. Hmmm, wonder why?

Because now the J-cops have to live up to the reputation of the J-cop dramas on NHK, Fuji TV, and TBS now. They actually now have to be 5 Dan Kendo experts and "detectives". The public seems to demand it after all the dramas they watch.
Glad the kid is safe.

To the point, take the leave. It is your right under the law and the employer can be fined for refusing it. No need to worry about the tooth sucking office oyaji think. They are bitter if people even take their full lunch hour.
That is if you are a "full time" employee you have the right. Contract or part-time employee, you are screwed.

If you lived in Japan you would know Haruna markets "its" self as a half and makes a fortune off doing so.
No offense to real gender identity people, but the real story is that Haruna did not actually have the surgery, and just markets "its" self as such. Yet the J-media laps up "its" appearances when they know Haruna didn't have the winkie wacked. But "it" says, "Well at least I am famous."
Uh-huh, and real gender identity sufferers can do what Haruna?

Well the Japanese Team chef said, "Because I create food the team I will gurantee 10 medals. I take my work for the team seriously to guarantee their success."
So I guess the food sucked and the chef will be persona non grata for any future work with Team Japan.
Kind of reminds me of "Monty Python's - The Meaning of Life" scene:
Jerry: What killed us Mr. Reeper? Grim Reeper: The salmon souffle. All: I knew it!
Hang the chef and get the excuses and tears over with. New chef for 2014 please.

Actually Smithinjapan is quite correct.
Mao Asada did not start crying until the pompous ass of a reporter asked her, "Why do you think didn't you win the gold medal?" That shows the lack of respect and propriety that a reporter should have.
Then again reporters in Japan do not have journalism degrees but any degree that gives them "presenter" qualifications. The Jmedia has along way to go to match BBC, ABC, Reuters, NBC, CBC, or even Pravda prodessionalism.

No the fact is she is under age and the Japanese consider her foreign and the salaryman perverts druel over her. Her "acting" skills have nothing to do with it as she has not been in anything other than a few commercials.
Much like Becky a few nights back berated by a comedian for being "gaijin" although Becky was born and raised and in Japan, but as the comedian told her, "Well you are a hafu so you are gaijin not Japanese so you do not understand from the point of 'we Japanese'"
On any other TV system around the world this comedian would have been flayed, but in Japan because Becky is a hafu, not one single word of criticism because "Poor widdle Japan simple island people". Or in Japanese 島国感情 - shimagunikanjyo.

Oh Bullshit and you know it. If a US company had been guilty of Japanese deaths by their product you damn well know they would have been called out on it here. So stop the theatric bullshit.
The fact is Toyota knew from 2006 on that there was a problem and chose to ignore it, but all the Japan apologists want to sit back and say "Poor widdle Japan get pick on by big bad USA", again bullshit, if Toyota's product had not killed people then this would not be the case now.
So, Mr. USA, do you own a Toyota involved in the recall, and if you do will you get it fixed, and do you now nad in the future trust Toyota products, because THAT IS THE ISSUE.
The issue is not MS as some dill weed postulated. Did an MS product kill anyone? No, but a Toyota product did. Time for the sheeple to pull their heads out of their asses and see that Toyota denying problems from 2006 on led to the deaths of 12 people in the USA, Latin America, and else where. But of course "WE JAPANESE" could give a flip less about the deaths of gaijin, an that is was the attitude Toyoda was grilled over.

Every single lady skating in this event has about the same chance. Pluchenko (aka World's biggest cry baby and ass) proved jumps are not the only factor in scoring. It is not a jumping contest, as the IOC pointed out explaining the scoring of figure skating.
It is 4 minutes and 42 seconds of free style skating, not 10 seconds to do your best quad or triple.
The big problem is that Japan focuses on jumps (ie Russia, all Japanese have Russian trainers) and that becomes a one dimensional issue.
Mao and Miki are talented, but do not forget both had major breakdowns last summer crying, "I don't know what the judges want, all I want to do is my best." Fact is as Pluchenko (did I mention World's biggest cry baby and ass) showed that quads and triples are only one dimension of what Olympic judges look for.
Kim sticks to basics, has perfected her triple, but in the end she is one dimensional as Mao and Miki are. There is a chance that the Canadian could rip them all apart come the big day because she held back until the Big Show. Could be, maybe not.
My guess is: I will see what happens Friday. Kim could take the Gold, but Pluchenko (World's biggest cry baby and ass) was favored but got Silver. Mao could take Gold as well, or the Canadian or Miki, or the German, or any skater who goes in perfect on basics and does not stumble on their performance. Nothing is guaranteed yet.
Do not see the J-media drama for reality, or you may be in for a big let down as Russia was with Pluchenko (World's biggest cry baby and ass). Kim could fall, Mao could miss her back step into her triple, Miki could go brain numb like last summer, and then the Canadian could get Gold, German Silver, and Italian Bronze. Too many factors until they play it out on the ice and the judges score.
Remeber, Japan's curling team was favored for Gold until they got knocked out today by Sweden only to come up with the the famous, "We are sorry we let Japan today." afterwards. I am sure Mao and Miki have this speech in the back of their minds as did the Japanese Ski Team, Speed Skating Team, and Snow Board Team. Nothing is guaranteed until the Big Show.

And the UK, and EU will lose the case right with Australia and New Zealand.
Honestly, I have provided two links that show that Japan is well within the law. And nobody has yet in the last 3 hours to provide any link proving Japan breaks any law.
If all that is necessary is emotions, fine, I will be happy if Japan is forced to stop. The fact is IF the ICCJ takes the case, and that is a big IF, then there is no evidence Japan is breaking the law.
Also, Japan isn't "praying" anything to be solved diplomatically. Okada was already scheduled since December to go to Australia on the trip. It was Rudd who turned it into the dog and pony show the day before he arrived. Rudd is intelligent to know the case is dead, or Okada would have been more willing to settle it. He wasn't, why? There is no case against Japan. It is all about Rudd getting reelected and getting Oz some press.
Again, now that Rudd, et al want it to be legal: Where is the evidence Japan is breaking th law? Ossan already stated articles VI, VII, and VIII of the IWC that show Japan is well within the agreement. If you want the IWC to change policy that is outside the authority of the ICCJ.
Again, Rudd, et al will be laughed into their planes in Belgium without evidence since they made this "legal". More of a humiliation than Obama et al faced in Copenhagen from China.

Yes, quite correct Cleo.
Now provide some links that show Japan breaks international law in its whaling program, because that is the issue.
Also, in all Japanese news websites, I failed to find your claim about the "cardboard" issue. Or any foreign news website as well. Care to provide one to back this up? This is all you've been posting about for the week and I can't find a thing about it.

US airports with immigration and customs?
All I am told in US Immigration at any airport I fly into from Japan is, "Welcome home." At customs, "Anything to declare? No, welcome home."
Want a nightmare of an airport? Try Nairobi, Riyadh, Heathrow, Charles Degaulle, or Jakarta. Also any airport in China or Vietnam.
Those will be real immigration and customs nightmares.
Best airports: Moscow, O'Hare, Kennedy, DFW, Dublin, Rio, Canberra, Melbourne, Hong Kong, and Incheon.

Being an American I am happy we won. I would much prefer some of my fellow compatriots here to be a bit more toned down. One game does not an Olympics make, and if Team USA went to Vancouver to only beat Team Canada then that is short sighted.
As my high school baseball coach used to tell us: One play, one inning, one game at a time fellas.
Canada played well, and anyone who doubts that is either just being obtuse or sarcastic. The US played a bit better, but those shots by Canada proved two things: One, Canada plays intense. Two, the US had a damn fine gk.
I prefer to look at this as a situation where two giants of hockey met and the better team won, but Canada sure had many chances to exploit US mistakes if they had reacted quickly enough. Good job by both teams. As a youngster in Chicago in 1980 I dreamed of playing hockey in the Olympics but chose science. My childish heart was with both teams today.
