What would be better is if the farmers here put their money where their mouth is. How about their kids moving off to the cities? Whose fault is that? Cultural food? Rice is no more cultural to Japan than French bread is to England. They are wasting the money already shelled out NOT TO GROW RICE is the problem. Come live here and talk to real Japanese farmers and you'll learn the real problem.
It's the kids moving away to get jobs in the city where they don't have to bust their backs. Some farmers spending their subsidy money on new cars, motor bikes, and building a new house. All the while the national gov't paying them more money not to plant than to plant. You can't have it both ways, you either sustain yourself or you don't. With the population shrinking here, especially in the rural areas, there is no time to waste. Going to a rally serves what? Time off the land planting.
Supporting the farmer is one thing, but paying money to be unproductive is really the problem. Free money gives no incentive for productivity. Again come here and talk to real farmers in Japanese. I do here in Aichi and they gave me insight the news, politicians, and self righteous Japanophiles don't.

You bet they need them. They never know when a class mate will flip out because they "just felt like hurting someone." All those cell phones in the class room will get help sooner than waiting for the teacher to run to the office to get help called. As long as they are not texting or calling during class then what's the big deal?

Shun Oguri: I'm just too cool and important to be bothered.
Kumi Koda: I'm just too kawaii and tarento to be bothered to give even half a real smile.
Seeing two shallow, talentless freaks hawking a second rate product, priceless.

What the heck is she apologizing for, holding hands, and kissing? Why? Are the reporters afraid "girls have cooties"? It's not like they were caught coming out of a love hotel together, and even then its nobody's business. I think these reporters are jealous of Kei, the female reporters included. I hope Ai gets her game back.

Las Vegas has the reputation of having some of the toughest police and laws. The courts in Nevada are infamous for giving tough sentences. With the gambling, alcohol, and other recreation activities they have to be. OJ was convicted on some serious charges here. Nevada sends a clear message in any case, come here and have fun, but break the law and we will lower the boom. If they didn't tourism would suffer, they took a good lesson from Miami, Atlanta, and DC, when crime got high in those places tourists stopped going there. Las Vegas is not a town to get in trouble.

In the words of Christopher Hitchens, "You can depend on religion to bomb each others churches, kill in the name of a loving god, and tell the most outrageous stories even a drunk could never invent."
Why kill in the name of God? Honestly,if God is so powerful and all knowing let God do it for his/her self. Obviously because humans created God in their image and all Holy Books are written by us human mammals. Why don't the Imams strap the bombs onto themselves and do the suicide bombing? Because they know Allah, God, Mohammed is all hogwash, thats why. Go get the 72 virgins yourself Imam rather than get some rube from the desert. Its all fiction and fairy tales, thats why. You can bet the Mods will kill this remark.

I'm atheist, but if someone says "Merry Christmas", "Happy Ramadan", "Happy Hanukkah" I'm happy they think enough of me to wish me happy anything. I love Christmas, its a good excuse to eat my yearly KFC and drink my daily beer. I say party on, if God gets you through the day rock on. Some need religion like I need my beer. It's all good.
