Being an American I am happy we won. I would much prefer some of my fellow compatriots here to be a bit more toned down. One game does not an Olympics make, and if Team USA went to Vancouver to only beat Team Canada then that is short sighted.
As my high school baseball coach used to tell us: One play, one inning, one game at a time fellas.
Canada played well, and anyone who doubts that is either just being obtuse or sarcastic. The US played a bit better, but those shots by Canada proved two things: One, Canada plays intense. Two, the US had a damn fine gk.
I prefer to look at this as a situation where two giants of hockey met and the better team won, but Canada sure had many chances to exploit US mistakes if they had reacted quickly enough. Good job by both teams. As a youngster in Chicago in 1980 I dreamed of playing hockey in the Olympics but chose science. My childish heart was with both teams today.

Both clearly show Japan is in no violation of laws or agreements. I know I am going to be flamed mercilessly for this but read the sites and make up your own mind.

Oops, I meant: Japan in no way controls the IWC, and does abide by its policies.

Japan in way controls IWC and abides by its policies. I do not support whaling, but Japan is following the law.
Sea Shepherd is violating the law at any chance it gets and proudly admits "If terrorism is the last resort then so be it. A lie is better than honesty to shut down Japan's whaling" Go to their site to read their drivel.
If Australia and New Zealand want this to end then they one, need a diplomatic approach outside of campaign grandstanding. Two, get the other anti-whaling nations to support their "Whale Sanctuary". Three, separate themselves from as far from Sea Shepherd as they can.
Ossan, David, and others take a lot of flack for no reason other than they point out the reality. Japan is conducting this program by IWC policies and UN regulations. Again, I do not support Japan's program but I am literate enough to go to the IWC an ICR websites to read that the Japanese program falls within all relevant treaties and agreements.
If the Australians and New Zealanders want the research program of Japan to end they need a better plan than going to the ICCJ in the Hague, unless they want to be laughed out of Belgium to the flights leaving. Japan is doing nothing illegal.

kavikahi,
You have a good heart and show an excellent character. Please do not lose either. Of some of the very cynical comments, yours stands out for its sheer humanity. I hope the woman can make friends, and she is among many here.
My neighborhood in Miyazaki is nothing but widows, and retired women whose children never see them. My wife, daughter and I had a New Years party for all of them this year, and as you said they were in tears when they left.

Dress like any other OL or Salaryman. That is where your future is. Try to be individual and you will be "the nail that nailed down" by not getting a job.
By the way, I see very, and I repeat, very few Japanese with piecings, unless they are with Johnny's and have their future as タレント.
All other Japanese know that is poison for a job interview. Even for stellar places like McD'S or MosBaga.

Like all the Japanese customers who came into the TGI Fridays in San Francisco I worked at during college and left when there was no Japanese menu.
Service industry means expecting customer and exceeding customer expectations. A new GM of our unit had a Japanese menu created and we were full every night. Dur hur hur, see service means service. Every customer needs service FROM THEIR POINT, not the provider.
Dur hur hur, service hints SERVANT. You serve the customer, not the other way around. Unless you just want ONE demographic to serve, as 90% of Japanese businesses want.

Of course the Legal Minds at JT miss the obvious.
One, a vehicle in the hands of anyone is a weapon or a mode of transport. Whether the pedestrian is in the right or wrong makes no difference ANYWHERE. The larger has to keep attention for surprises. You know, what's it called, oh yeah...defensive driving. Two, this a weekend where 20 year olds turn of age, from last year, meaning a 23 year old could have have had some drinks before driving with her friends who turned 20 last year. Three, the 23 year old's friend turned her into police. Perhaps the friend knew, or felt the 23 yo driver was not in their best frame of mind, hence, DRUNK, on this weekend. So glad to connect the dots for the wanna be Perry Masons and Matchlocks out there.

@ Betzee:
That is my point. It is nobody's f-ing business who is doing who. When Imams, rabbis, priests, and police keep their noses out of people's hotel or bed rooms, the better off we all are.
Unless you support the fact that your, my, and everyones sex life is their business. In which case, here is a burka for ya. Now don't you look just "kawaii!" in it.

No the actual irony is: These people cannot practice their freedoms without religious police kicking their a$$es. That is the whole story. Imams are so bored with their lives their have to poke their noses into everyone eles's life for excitement.
Too bad for Malaysia, once free, now bound under a foreign law and religion. Once Chinese and Confucian, now under foreign law and religion.
PAY HEED WEST.

The lesson for future generations is: When it looks like a squadron of zeros and bombers to attack, it is. Sound General Quarters. Don't F around contacting Washington or anyone else: YOUR A$$ IS UNDER ATTACK!
If you start wars you can't win, then be prepared for what is thrown at you.

Anytime my daughter threw a tantrum I immitated her just to show how silly she looked. Worked like a charm, every time. No need to abuse her physically, there is never a need to do that. Just mirror the behavior and let them see how silly it is. Unless they are playing with fire :)
I hope this skag swings, but she won't. She'll do 5 to 10.

I agree 100% with Disillusioned.
Cut the "poor little me" crap then look at others in worse shape that keep up the struggle with no thoughts of self inflicted homicide, and perhaps you'd be able to see the good around you.
Where were all these depression problems before the 70's when the "I'm Special" curriculum took over? Only to realize upon adulthood, hey I'm not special - I'm just like every other schmuck out here.
I had a family member commit suicide, and yes, they were the biggest LOSER in our family. Not to mention the agony my aunt feels every day after my uncle offed himself 20 years ago. His boozing, gambling, and cheating on my aunt caught up with him. Sorry, but my sympathy goes with the survivors of the suicide, not the successful of sucide, or even the unsuccessful. Life takes more courage to live, than to end it.
