Yeah and we could get Jerry Lewis to host it. I'm with you, like that thinking. Also, Higashikokubaru could make a guest appearance with our great mangoes and shochu from Miyazaki.

Everton 2, "Japanese women are hot period!!"
Does this include the Kano sisters, the baachans playing trash police in every neighborhood, the mushroom hair obaaasan on the TV, or the fat chicks at McD's and Yoshinoya? Just wondering how you feel about them.
Moderator: Don't answer that question. All readers back on topic please. Posts that do not refer to the women in the photo will be removed.

Contrary to some of the ignorant comments here (big surprise) this dad is my Father of the Decade. Being a father I can only only surmise holding his breath was not on his to do list at the moment.
I love the sardonic and mindless comments some can make, showing their true color of charater.

Saw on MRT News here in Miyazaki last week when Yosano almost passed out. I looked pretty bad. Hope he is feeling better. Politics aside, anyone his age needs to be careful in intense heat. You young bucks and does out there too. You need to take care in the heat. Wear a hat or use an umbrella, stay hydrated (the non-alcohol kind, alcohol dehydrates) with fluids, and try to limit vigorous outdoor activity to 20 minutes from 2 pm to 5:oo pm, that is when the heat and sun are the most intense. Heat stroke isn't fun. The poor guy looked pretty dehydrated. Again, hope Yosano feels better.

A few months back I got a call from daughter's school to pick her up. I got there and her blond hair had shoe polish brushed into it. Apparently one of the girls felt she needed an uninvited make over.
I calmly asked the teacher how that could happen in class. Especially in a private Catholic school here in Miyazaki. The teacher mumbled off a weak excuse. I asked to see the principal. The good Father simply said that kids would be kids. I asked how he would feel, if he could have kids, if his child were treated like that. He got my point pretty quick.
We got home and my wife wanted to go down the street, being the red blooded Texan she is, and take of it with her dukes. I advised against it and talked to the bully's dad. He and I went to a bar and had some beer and discussed the situation. He took care of his kid right quick.
My daughter and the other girl are good friends now. She is teaching my daughter Portugese and my daughter helps her with her math homework. Nobody had to get Rambo. I did tell my daughter she needed to stand up for herself. Dad will not always be there to get her out of scrapes. She is taking Kempo lessons, not to fight, but to defend. Kempo teaches not just physical, but emotional and meditative techniques.
I love my wife, but she wants to get Rambo quick when it comes to our daughter. Personally I feel talking and rationally working things out work better. I feel sorry for these two angels that they perhaps did not have a parent willing to talk or even Rambo the situation. As a dad I can't help but feel that is the case. I seldom cry, but these stories touch something in me. I weep as I type this. I didn't want to comment on this story, but I hope parents who read this DO SOMETHING when they have their child bullied or see another child bullied.
Also at work if they see it. Enough is just enough. Sorry for the novel.

They should stick her in a school girl uniform and pose her like the manga girls in what the slobbering salarymen read. That would be more realistic. And the traditional Japanese fashion police wouldn't have anything to say on the issue.

My all time favorite is watching a tyke jump up and down on the train seat and then when the train stops the kid falls off the seat. Never fails that the super moms always chew out the train driver.
Super moms are either texting, primping, or chatting on the phone relaying such important information as "asouka? hontoni!, or sou-sou-sou." rather than wathcing their child. The worst I've ever seen was a five year old boy fall out of a window on the third floor in NYC. Parents tried to sue the building owners for not having bars across the window. I agree Disillusioned. I have a kid and it wasn't that difficult for my wife and I to keep an eye on her, hold her hand, or me as pops to carry her when she was younger. She's 11 now and my wife and I still have her in arms reach out in public.

Why is it everything Japan does is criticized as evil by some people? Japan moves to a jury system that people have yelling about for years. Then the same people trash the system before it even begins.
Japan moves to sign the Hague Accords that people have been yelling for Japan to do and the same people bash the move as being some sinister plot by Japanese to do evil. Japan makes realistic changes for the Gaijin ID cards that people have been screaming about for years. The government announces changes to the system and people scream about how the government is going steal all your money and send police to arrest you in the middle of the night. A little paranoid and over the top to say the least.
Now Japan wants to work with Europe and the USA to work as a partner in defense and people scream to high heaven about it. The same peopele who have complained that the US and Europe foot too much of the bill to protect Japan.
Make up your minds, but I think some people just hate Japan and see any thing to bash it for. Perhaps some people are miserable with their life and look for anything to bash others for. Why all the hate for Japan? Is Japan any worse than any other country? Some of you make Japan sound like Burma, North Korea, or any other tin pot dictatorship. Utopia is a land that lives in Disney movies. Japan has problems, but it is funny those who complain the most are the same that stay here. Kind of refutes their arguments doesn't it?

She probably makes more in a month than the average English teacher and many people are jealous. If she enjoys her job and is making friends then good on her. If she is enjoying her time in Japan then double good on her. Come on, she is an every day person, one of us - who came to Japan to find an experience. She obviously has and didn't have to work for an Eikaiwa, people should be cheering her and not hating her.
If families and women go into the cafe she works at then it is no different than a Gusto or Joyfull. Except for the uniform she wears, which looks no more revealing than what the average OL wears. Not every one coming here is willing to teach English, or become a gaijin salary drone.
Perhaps she is very good at her job and the return customers enjoy her good service. Most restaurant wait staff take the order and you do not see them again until they bring the food with the check, and good luck getting even a water refill after that. Triple good on you Anna!

"Sukarno (who likes the media to refer to her as Madam Dewi)"
With an ego like that how can she possibly criticize anyone else. I always thought she was related to the Kano sisters judging by her appearance.

If you do not use HOT water AND soap to wash your hands it does minimal good. One reason I do not eat out is because of the lack of hot water in restaurants. Go to any restaurant and look in the bathroom, if the sink has only cold water and no soap (the standard) then guess what you eating after you wait person uses the potty? Are you willing to risk that they wash up in a "special" sink in the KITCHEN?
As a geneticist, not a medical doctor, I can safely say that masks help those already infected not to spread an illness. As far as preventing infection you need a professional medical mask. Which only clinics and hospitals have access to in Japan. Any mask you buy in the drug store is better than nothing, but you need to replace it every two hours or after removing it.
Ethanol sanitizers work when you soak for a period but the squirt and rub has no real effect for flu or any virus. Flu is caused by a virus NOT bacteria. Ethanol is more suited to bacterial sanitization and not viral. Until more facilities have HOT water AND soap for washing hands then all other precautions are basically useless. Not only Japan, but around the world.

EU Girl, did you poll personally all 20 million Japanese women you mention, or just take that number out of thin air. Perhaps you need to speak for yourself and not millions of people you have never met. You also sound like a stalker, you might want to turn off the CD player, take down the SMAP posters, and meet some real people.

Hey Sarge, don't forget Gore, Cheney, Biden, the Bush clan, Pelosi, Rumsfeld, Kennedy, Baker, all 3 Clintons, Rahm, ....
I'm sure all those governing, and used to govern, will exempted. Only the governed will have to sacrifice, as usual. "Don't get fooled again."
