Except Grafton, you are paid by the tax payers to represent your nation before the rest of the world's media acting like a drunken jack ass. Those in positions of trust are held to higher standards. Something missing in today's societies is this: Those given repsonsibility are held to higher accountability. Public service is a position of humility, something lost in societies today. That is the reason Nakagawa acted like this, the arrognace of public servats who think they are kings and not servants.

71% of people polled: Aso sama, you need to resign.
Aso: Nantonaku, no I won't.
71% of people polled: Awww, that's not fair. Please?
Aso: Nantonaku, not by the hair of my chinny chin chin.

Only if freedom of thought, intellectual freedom, and academic liberty mean nothing any more. People can believe in the flying spaghetti monster all day, but other people have the right to ask for evidnece. The problem with debates today, many believe without question what teachers, ADL, and others tell them.
There is nothing wrong with a healthy dose of analytical skepticism, and asking for evidence other than "so and so who was a survivor said so". Especially after many of these "survivor and eye witness" accounts have turned out to be bogus.

Wow, who died? I thought they won awards. The economy must really be getting them down, or the fact Aso is still the PM.

Cut the guy some slack, he is after all a pro-wrestler. Then again, forget it, the fact he is a prowrestler is enough cause for insulting him.
Carry on.

Why does she want to get married before 27? After that she is "Christmas cake". Why all the awards to useless and talentless people? Its PR and marketing. Why to any of this? It's all part of uniquely, unique Japan. Just like the four seasons, the unique snow, Mt. Fuji, and on and on. So unique our minds will never get it. Just sigh and keep plugging on.

The big media companies that once invested in serious accountability journalism are shells of their former selves. The Tribune Co. — in other words, the Los Angeles Times and the Chicago Tribune — has slashed its Washington staff by more than half. Newspaper chains such as Cox are fleeing D.C. altogether.
The end result: There are few reporters in this country doing the kind of investigative reporting that hold government officials’ feet to the fire. Think back eight years to the pre-Iraq war reporting and consider what happened when the big media guys slept at the wheel and let no criticism emerge in their reports or editorials. If they had lived up to their responsibility the nation, and world, would have been better served.
Rigorous reporting is even more important when you have one-party rule in Washington. Democrats, like Republicans, are simply less likely to scrutinize a president of their own. The end result here: Don’t expect the Democratic Congress to investigate the Obama administration or hold a bunch of tough oversight hearings. That means the only real check on Obama is the same one it’s always been — the voters.

Jack Murtha said, "Go ahead and close the place down and bring the prisoners to my district."
You people in western Pennsylvania in Jack Murtha's district, you need to know that he has offered the welcome mat for terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay to be brought into your neighborhoods. This is about Obama making political rather than security decisions.

We won't get a judgment based on honesty, openness, and the basis of his performance, but rather, that his criticism will only be behind closed doors. The media elite of the world might criticize him, but they'll never do so publicly because he's been elevated by their tap and their lack of criticism. President Obama deserves no less than the standard of other presidents in treatment by the press.

In this speech Barack Obama actually said that government is where people are gonna turn when they need work. And of course people will turn to the government to fix their problems instead of trying to fix them on their own first. It was a campaign speech, and I think that he tried to just touch on too many things and strive for memorable line after memorable line. And, as such, it came off as an infomercial. There wasn't anything of substance, but there were good sound bites. Of course that's what any politician looks for.
