Seattle really wanted to get me,Iwakuma said. That was the most important thing.
They were maybe the only team that was interested in him this year after his injury. Blew off $15.25 mil last year (4years), got $1.5 mil this year (only 1 year).

Iwakuma is getting much less than the Athletics offered him last year, and only a 1 year contract, not the multi-year one he was demanding from Oakland. See what getting injured in your free agency year gets you!
Japanese media last year had reported that Oakland made a four-year proposal worth $15.25 million. In terms of annual salary, it is equal to what Iwakuma made with the Eagles of Japan's Pacific League. His agent Don Nomura said of Oakland, "Their offer was low and they weren't sincere".
As an Oakland fan I must say I'm quite happy how this turned bad for him after dissing the Athletics

Sounds like excuses for Ichihashi already. Of course there have been a ton of movies about true criminals/crime, but the big point here is that this movie is being made from Ichihashi's own book, therefore netting him some profits..Disgusting

After rejecting oakland for offering him the equivalent of his Japanese salary he had a terrible year here. Ha ha ha. With darvish on the radar he's not gonna get close to oaklands offer. Matsui was ok. Hope we can keep him

Just give up on at least the 5km radius around the plant and make that the dumping ground for all the waste. Why are the govt still giving hope to those households?

It was shown on TV. The 2 knobs are similar in design but one is obviously larger than the other and they are not near each other on the control panel. The plane experienced over 2Gs but since passengers were in their seats and couldn't see outside they didn't notice. They were pressed back in their seats rather than falling out.

Snore.... Once again behind Apple. Many companies have also been reported to have said they will be sticking with windows 7. They skipped Vista to go to 7. Why spend so much to go to 8..

In the vast majority of cases it's true, we are foreigners here in Japan, very few are Japanese citizens. I don't take offense at being called gaijin, unless it was said in a truly aggressive/condescending tone/situation which I have yet to encounter in my 20 years here.
What I find shameful and disgusting is when in the States, people (usually whites) say to a person who is of Asian/Middle Eastern descent (for example), "Where are you from?" Uhh, Chicago. "No where are you from??" Chicago!!! They imply that since you're not white you must have been born in another place. Only whites can be "real" Americans (conveniently forgetting the Native Americans). I daresay the same thing happens in the UK, "What part of Pakistan do you come from?" London......

Nobody I know is that excited about Obama, and I seriously doubt that there will be any improvement in the economy by election time. Obama is in serious trouble if he loses the independents and young voters. I think his only chance is if the GOP pick a candidate who is scary enough issues-wise to force people to vote for the saner Obama

@oracle First you say if you wanna be a "strong leader" we can learn things from Hitler, then in the next post you talk about another Hitler being terrifying. Sure many were drawn to him by his speeches which resonated with many in those economic conditions, but I would think powerful manipulator would be a better choice of words than "strong leader"

It's one thing to show documentaries about Hitler, (substitute any mass murdering dictator), to try to understand how they got to their positions so we avoid that happening again in the future, but it's a completely different thing to try to teach how to use their "talents" in your life:
@Oracle
This is ridiculous! Hitler got a lot of people to do things because if they didn't, they would literally be shot. A true strong leader motivates not with fear, that should be obvious
@midoritori
That's because of ignorance. Ignorance is not an excuse for offensive behaviour
