Just as most posters have already stated....there is alot of information missing in this story but sadly in Japan that doesn't matter because the way they look at it the driver of the car is at fault regardless!!! However in saying that by changing the law and saying that people riding bicycles must ride on the roads in lieu of the footpaths is basically giving some a death sentence without them knowing it. I am amazed every single day why kids going to school on their bicycles feel its needed to ride side by side (most times around my way 3 abreast) on roads that are so narrow they struggle to hold cars. And for the life of me don't even think about moving aside when a car approaches.

I'm guessing that the Chinese are going to test drive their new aircraft carrier near those waters in the next few weeks.

My post didn't get through so let me change a few words. A totally disgraceful and inhumane act. I agree with all the above in terms of what should be done to this guy. I only wish there will be a follow up story (I'm sure there won't) to what sentence this creature gets off the judge. Sadly i think it will only be a wrist slap.

Excellent but sometimes common sense does not exist. There is too much 'following the procedure manual'. I witnessed an eposide in McDonalds where a foreigner wanted an extra sauce pack with whatever it was he ordered (lets say nuggets to keep it simple)...the girl behind the counter insisted she couldn't do that. The manager also insisted that it couldn't be done. The foreigner then ordered an extra order of nuggets and told them to keep the nuggets because all he wanted was the sauce.......the manager looked at the girl puzzled before sucking air and letting out the dreaded words we all hate hearing......."muzukashii desu". Needless to say he didn't get the extra sauce.

Oh in that case...all is good then (said with a sarcastic tone). How about sacking those involved on the spot (to show the japanese people that you are very serious and not just 'kuchi bakari') and getting new people in there that will do the job they are meant to do. Gee how hard is it to keep records????? They keep records at the old girls housie meetings.

Yeah Yeah....this too young to name crap is ridiculous. How about naming the high school that these cowards go to!! Or is that against the law too??? I hope they spend some time behind bars where there is a REAL Macho Gorilla who does likewise to these rodents.

They didn't expect him to testify that he did know did they??????? Perhaps he is dubbed the Shadow Shogun because he seems to get away so easily with what he does. If he gets outta this jam he will feel s if he is the only untouchable in Japan.

Why dont they add an extra incentive to the world club championships...that being the winning clubs country is automatically selected as the host country 2 years later (gives the country 2 years to prepare)......if they aren't in a position to host the championships the team that came 2nd gets the option and so forth down the ranks.

Very sad indeed. I hope the mother and her other daughter both recover both physically and mentally after this tragic event. I hope the mother doesn't spend the rest of her life in pain thinking it was her fault in anyway. RIP little one. I pray for your recovery. Without sounding rude i am not surprised it doesn't happen more often. Very rarely do people in Japan ever stop at Zebra crossings.......the only time i see people stopping around my way is early in the morning when there is a cop standing next to one with his flashing red stick. I have seen so many near misses where the driver has the audacity to blow his horn at the person he nearly knocked over as he speed through. Other times a car will stop and as the person is crossing the crossing and motorbike will zip up the inside and nearly wipe out the pedestrian.

Don't know but i guess it could be the fact that babies are so relaxed and literally bounce yet an adult in the same situation would stiffen up and panic in anticipation of what is about to happen when they hit the ground. I remeber reading an article in a british newspaper years back about a guy who jumped from an airplane and before he could open his shute he fainted.......he survived the fall.

The worst thing about this is that one day this little boy will learn what his father did to him when he was only one year old. Thank God this child survived. I totally agree with the comment buggerlugs made.

It's for charity....good on her. Three cheers for Yoko. If it was a Yoko Ono solo concert...then I can understand the Yoko attacks...... but i don't see why people should be attacking her when she is on stage (albiet howling and screeching) all in the name of charity. Like i said....good on her. If it was you or I on stage people wouldn't give it a second thought. Having her in the mix raises peoples attention and that is the main aim to this event.

So the only differences between this and the usual weekly/fortnightly singing TV programs they inundate the masses with is that it has a surprise guest; has a new year countdown and it is on until later in the night.(said with sarcasm)

Ben4Short.......perhaps if it was your 8 year old child we are are all reading about I'm sure your opinions would be somewhat different on whether or not JT tends to be over dramatic with what headlines lead the news.

Having one of these sports cars in Japan (with a 100km/h max speed limit) is like owning a greyhound dog and keeping it locked up in your 1LDK apartment.
