Sarah Palin for President! Obama is leading the US to oblivion. He is destroying once-grat America. I dont think he will get re-elected for a second term.

I seem to recall a poster on another thread asserting that their was no censorship in Japan. This is an example of the bullying and attempted bullying that goes on in this country. These right wingers are just bullying scumbags, desparate to hide the truth about Japan from their own people and also from the world. Japan will never change, and is heading for the bottom of the pile.

Japans "bursting" supermarket shelves? Where? I counted 6 small bags of potatoes on my local supermarket shelf the other day. The same applies to other foods. Compared with the UK, Japans supermarkets look somewhat Third World in terms of variety, choice, and quantity. Hardly "bursting!"

The Japanese media toe the party line. They dont ask hard questions. In Japan, the media is boring. In America, the mass media also toe the party line v- the Democratic one, with a few exceptions, like Fox News and the Washington Post and the New York Times. Apart from that, journalism in both countries is a joke.

Unagidon The movies are being shown in obscure locations, so that not many people can see them. There is such a thing as subtle censorship as well, you know. Japan DOES ban films and books within its own borders - those are facts. Japanese people have yet to see the wonderful documentary made about Emperor Hirohito at the time of his death in January 1989. (or was it really December 1988?) The reason for this was it contained a few home truths about the dear old gentleman, which the LDP government at the time would never allow their people to see. It is not "nonsense" that Japan bans films and books within its borders.

Japanese TV is so banal, and so mind-blowingly boring, that I seldom watch it. Thank God for satellite TV - although it is becoming more and more like rdinary TV, with its endless commercials. This is a good article - and it highlights the bad inbfluence on the general population that TV here has. Japanese language and society has been ruined by Japanese TV.

Lostinnagoya I heard that, too. Certainly looks like it. As regards this "popes preacher" and his ridiculous pontificating, sorry, but its lost on me. It was another blatant attempt at the highest level of the RC Church to cover up the sins of its pervert priests. The scandal wont go away, and rightly so. It is sheer nonsense to compare the criticism of the RC Church with what happened to the Jewish people. One of the biggest load of cobblers I have heard in a long time.

15,000 yen-56,700 yen a night? What a complete rip-off! Anyone who takes their kids for a night there must have money to burn and obviously has never experienced the real world, outside Japan.

46,000 yen would buy me a ticket to Thailand - much better place to be, and to spend my hard-earned dosh. Who in their right mind would spend money like this for a night in the Tokyo Ritz-Carlton?

Russia and Japan top the list of suicides. Very sad. Could it be that maybe part of the reason is the quality of life, and the sheer boredom of both places, in the lives of most of their repsective citizens?

I think it is sad that Japan continues to try to deny the facts about the Rape of Nanking. Over 300,000 people were murderd and raped by the Japanese Imperial Army. I find it particularly appalling that in this movie, and in the research, hardly any of the rapists showed any remorse for their actions. Sickening. Tell the truth to your children, Japan, or you will suffer the consequences for generations, and maybe even repeat past sins, because you deny historical facts and do not learn from them.

If by "living together before marriage" you mean simply sharing a house or apartment together, then no problem. If the meaning is having sex before marriage, then no, it is morally wrong. Sex is meant to be within the confines of the marriage relationship, according to the Creator of the Universe.

Reading this report made me physically sick. What a sick society this is, despite all the pretence of ethics and morality. Japan is amoral.

Japan....an amazing country. 4 seasons....or is it 6? Cherry Blossoms. Government officials "proclaiming" the start of the blossoms, or the start or end of the rainy season. Have they nothing better to do? Its that wacky time of year again, folks. Experience the "uniqueness" of Japan. Well, enjoy the blossoms, anyway, and try your best to ignore the mass drunkenness. As for the comment about them being early because of "global warming?" Bunkum.
