These Bolier Suits that they wear every day are a laughing stock. Totally meaningless and ridiculous-looking in the 21st Century, AD. I have no idea why they wear these clown uniforms. It makes them look inept, more like toilet cleaners than members of the Government. Are they trying to look like members of the Chinese Communist Party, or what?

It has been almost impossible to get milk, bread, rice and gasloine in my area...on the outskirts of Tokyo. It is interesting to read the stuff written byb those of you who live in the well-heeled areas of Tokyo, where most of us could not afford to live, talking about the land of plenty you live in. You do not represent all Tokyoites. There are plenty of people in my area who are struggling. While many of you in inner Tokyo areas have not had power outages, we are enduring 3-4 hour otages every day, except yesterday and today, when we have been given a reprieve.

This one made me laugh until I cried! The funniest story from Japan this year! I especially like the bit where after he got into the bath with the ladies, they "became suspicious." Please, JT, more of these. This made my day!!

"Censorship" in Japan is something of a joke. Its so full of contradictions. Japan is one of the world`s biggest producers of pornography of all kinds, not least the disgusting manga read openly and brazenly by "sararimen" on the trains. I dont know which trains the write of this article has travelled on, but I have never seen a manga shrouded in the brown paper cover that he writes anout here. On the contrary, the pornographic stuff I have observed being read on trains is always uncovered. The images are very explicit, yet the images in many cinematic forms of Japanese pornography are always partially "censored" using fog-like effects over genitalia. I also am concerned about the fact that the write of this article doesnt seem to be able to distinguish between "normal" and "deviant" sexual behaviour.

I feel sorry for the Egyptian people, havving had this tyrant as their President for so long. he should smell the coffee and go now, not in September. If he doesnt, then there is going to be a civil war, and the whole country, which has made suich amazing advances in the past 30 years, faces destruction. The man is evil.

"Nihon no wakamono wa dondon baka ni natteiru." As a teacher in university, I have to agree. Generally speaking, modern Japanese students have little or no social graces. As for reading newspapers, or showing any interest in what is going on around them apart from sports, makeup, fashion, music and the latest fads? Forget it. I blame the examination hell they have passed through, which has all but destroyed them. I also blame the terrible work and social conditions they receive if they do manage to get a job. They sign themselves over to their employer, lock, stock and barrel. They have virtually no human rights, and are exploited with low pay and criminally long working hours. They know they will have little or no social life or family life when they starting working in Japan as "sarariman" or "OL" and so they literally give up, and become comatosed into accepting the unacceptable. I despair of this country. They guy who wrote this article is spot on. Japan has no future, if this state of affairs continues.

smithinjapan Totally agree. The only time silence is required in Japan is on trains, when we are not allowed to use our mobile phones or even speak in a loud voice, in case we might disturb the sleeping masses! This country is definately the worst in the world for noise pollution.

I agree totally with everything this write said. The announcements on and off trains are irritating and mostly unnecessary. I particularly dont like the American woman`s horrible Japanese pronunciation on the Chuo and Sobu Lines. I often hear Japanese people mimicing and mocking her accent. Also, another pet hate is the endless and meaningless, tatemae "apologies" for when the trains are delayed, something which happenes more and more frequently these days. The trian system used to be more reliable, but sadly it is not any more.

Is this an early April Fools` joke? Japan is infamous for the wacky and the wierd - but this one takes the biscuit. The wierdest thing I have seen for years. "Global Warming" gone totally through the barrier or lunacy.

Im not American, but I watched with great interest Sarah Palin`s very Presidential-like speech after the Tucson Massacre. I found her to be totally inspiring, a gracious and wonderful lady, who spoke words of wisdom and truth.
Those two concepts seem to be alien to many of the posters on here, and to many of my liberally minded American friends, who constantly seem to be spewing venom and hatred against her. Are they afraid of her becoming President when the Great Obama loses in 2012? President Obama`s speech was also inspiring - the most inspiring I have heard him in a very long time. Perhaps the recent decisive defeat for the Democrats at the polls have forced him and his Leftist cronies to temper their policies and their words.
I find Sarah Palin to be a breath of fresh air in the political world. She is articulate and speaks common sense. Sure, she might make the odd mistake - who doesn`t? The fact that people like Matt Damon and other Hollywood upstarts are against her makes her an even more attractive choice for the Republican Candidacy in 2012. I think the world might actually be a better and safer place with her resident in the White House.

Global Warming is a myth and has become a new religion. I will refuse to pay any "environment" taxes. They can put me in jail if they like. Climate Change is nature in action. Flooding, hurricanes, heavy winter snowfall, its all nature, and human beings have NOTHING to do with it. Lets hope that Wikileaks exposes more of the GW lies soon again.
