1 in 5? That would be 20 percent.

In Canada, a full 31 percent of soldiers have mental issues.

And since the Canadian medical system is mysteriously considered superior to America's I guess we need to ask why America sends far more into far more ferocious battle and yet has lower rates for mental problems. Is it the recruits America gets, or is it the overall population drawn from?

"Mental illness afflicts 31% of troops: study But only 13% seek help, MD says"

I was pretty shocked at some of what I came across:

    Like this story:

Schouten didn't show up for work for a few days and was charged for impaired driving.

He was given medications with serious side-effects and, in June, attempted suicide.

Friends who stayed with him until his family got there were his salvation.

LeClair said she went on the base, wanting to set up a program for her son and asking for a psychiatric assessment.

In front of her, one officer told Schouten, 'You need to suck it up.'

"1 in 5 U.S. troops has mental problems after war service"

I'll bet the Left's soldiers and water-carriers in the media have comparable or even higher numbers.

The US armed forces keeping meeting and even exceeding recruitment goals... Moderator: The word "Left" has no relevance here. Please lift the level of your posts.

"Palestinians" love their misery. Why else would they elect to political office a monster like this - -

"Then there is an issue unlike any other. The most controversial of the newly elected Hamas women is Miriam Farhat, known as the "Mother of Martyrs" after losing three sons fighting Israel. Her campaign video included a scene of her bidding a son goodbye before he died killing five people in a Jewish settlement. Mrs Farhat said later that she wished she had 100 sons to sacrifice as "shaheeds" - Muslims who die in a holy war. Mrs Naeem, who named her youngest child after a Hamas leader assassinated by Israel, says there is nothing illegitimate about suicide bombers."

    Madverts -

Can you give those of us outside Europe some idea - like say a projection for the number of Citroens and Peugots that'll be torched - of just how big a provocation the 73-year old Bardot's "anti-Muslim" scribbling will become among certain "immigrant" populations?

    Thanx, bro.

Even bigots and right wingers can be animal lovers too, didn't Hitler own some dogs?

Hitler was a Lefty. Hate to break it to ya. Read and notice: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei.

Not that it matters. Weird notions about animals and nature, not to mention plenty of blind anti-Americanism, consumes both Left and Right in the new Europe.Another confirmation that the whole collection of post-modernist pseudo-states is a failed one.

But to answer your question -

I wonder how she feels about the practice of force feeding goose for fattening their livers.

it doesn't matter if Bardot is opposed to force-feeding geese. No unelected Leftist busybody has found a way to construe her views on this as "racist," though they are undoubtedly trying to.

It is depressing to watch Europe shuffle into the twilight like this.

Why do Chinese fear CNN's opinion so much? It's one channel. Americans, even many of those classified as "poor," have hundreds to choose from.

Chinese are still way too Confucian in this respect. Grow up.

Sooner or later China will have to choose - do they want democracy or do they want a silly, essentially medieval Confucian state dressed up to look like a modern and equal player among the G8 nations and the like?

"How would you feel if you had a mother from one country and a father from another and you were told that at the age of 20 you had to choose one passport and one of those countries to live in."

No brainer on this one. Iran is a hellhole. Young Mr Darvish hit the jackpot. He was born here, not there, has Japanese citizenship and can, if he chooses, one day ply his trade in America where he'll make more than entire Iranian villages ever will. He, his wife, his parents, his in-laws, his kids, his grandkids and their kids are set.

    Europe's finest?

    Hard to say.

Maybe we need a JT poll on that one...

My many, many French friends and acquaintances tell me they are ashamed to be from that country.

"You continue to stretch to divert from the point and to conceal your lack of argument."

What lack of argument? I have repeatedly written: 3 Al Qaeda murderers got waterboarded. The info extracted saved lives. American lives. I have no problem with that.

"the US led invasion allowed them to be there and wreak havoc."

Because the "insurgents," while human enough (in an abstract way) to be pitied for being between the US and its interests in the ME, are not truly human to the anti-liberation crowd - that would mean admitting they posess the same free will the rest of us have. And though they might come from Syria or Saudi Arabia it is only the Yanks who you can call "imperialists" and occupiers.

Honestly, how else to explain (one example) complete disregard for Iraqi points of view? Iraqbodycount.org's completely thorough on-the-ground mortality indices are cynically tossed aside for Lancet figguhs (figures) pulled out of some Lefty "bioethicist's" arse a week before the federal election in the US three years ago, and though repeatedly debunked, are still bandied about by the Left and by "pacifists" here.

No, the "insurgents" (and ordinary Iraqis, of course) just sorta get "allowed into" things, as you so very well put it, madverts.

    Things happen.

    People get killed.

Can't look for a motive, homicidal or ideological, that drives "insurgent" behavior.

Can't quite bring ourselves to fault AlQaeda's enablers and financiers, who vote in their own way but with cash donations from Damascus and AK-47s via Afghanistan, can we?

    Nope.

    It's all America's fault.

Iraq, though 5, 000 years older than the US of A is powerless before Dumbya...

"The joke is that the US is also run by goons and thugs and what produces a lot of junk. Wonder if he would have enough of the round ones to say that on CNN."

And then there is the joke that is you, living not in China but Japan, America's closest ally in Asia. Your taxes, Ms Colmar, help fund American "hegemony."

Al Qaeda number 2 Ayman Zawahiri, quoted in a recent communique:

As-Sahab: And what is the most important field in which this Mujahid vanguard is wrestling with the enemies of Islam? Zawahiri: Iraq is the most important of these fields.

"As-Sahab: To begin, what is your opinion about the condition of the Jihad in Iraq today?

"Zawahiri: The condition of the Iraqi Jihad, is - overall - excellent by the grace of Allah, and whatever pains are suffered are a must on the march of Jihad and the most recent reports which have come in from Iraq tell of an increase in the strength of the mujahideen and a deterioration in the Americans' conditions, despite their desperate attempts to deceive and mislead. And the decision of the British to flee is sufficient."

"A series of bombings blamed on al-Qaida in Iraq tore through market areas in Baghdad and outside the capital on Tuesday, killing nearly 60 people and shattering weeks of relative calm in Sunni-dominated areas."

Interesting. Unlike madverts I'd have to say my criticism is reserved for Al Qaeda, its financial backers beyond Iraq's borders, Sunni deadbeats, and the clerics who brainwash young, confused, or disaffected Iraqis into believing that killing your fellow Iraqis is a religious duty.

sez who wrote:"I'm inclined to wonder when other people's brain damage occurred."

Surely one as politically correct as you dutifully are knows that discussing the disastrous medical, social and financial consequences of consanguineous marriages, shockingly widespread even among Khalid Shaikh Mohammed's fellow kinsmen who have come to the West, is something "progressives" like you have tacitly agreed among yourselves not to do.

Don't make others here the keeper of your bad faith.

    It's embarrassing.

Forgotten his primary victories already? Obama won Iowa, which is 94 percent "white."

He is a typical Lefty elitist. He is a product of very exclusive schools. He sends his kids to elite private schools but wants to see to it ordinary folks won't be able to do the same. This guy has never worked in the private sector. He is a fraud.

I am a centrist on all issues, excepting perhaps the global proliferation American fast food joints, the modern guise that the divinely-inspired America notion of Manifest Destiny takes.
