I don't think its hundreds of nukes for China, Maybe 100 if they are lucky. I agree with many posts, China has many internal problems and they have to worry about people having jobs and they have a lot of rural areas that will riot very quickly. They also have an aging population which not many people talk about, the one child policy is coming to haunt them. There is a saying "China will grow old before it grows rich" Plus there is still no innovation coming from China, all that they have done in the past few decades is from buying technology or reverse engineering it, they could never have put a man in space with out the Russians not in the time frame they did it, they couldn't have High speed rails with out buying a lot of the technology from France, Germany and Japan, they still don't have any real National Brands, most of their rich people are in Real estate. I think all the talk is way over blown personally.

I dont feel sorry for a company that for decades has been making a third of their money from the exchange rate.

I would have to agree with many posts that its not only Japan but everywhere. I am in Singapore right now after living in Japan and they seem more polite in Japan then here, if you think Japan is bad Singapore is 100 times less in the manners department. Anyway I feel its like that everywhere, when I grew up it seemed that people had better manners and today its more selfish, people just look out for themselves. Who do you blame?, society?, parents? In the end I guess we need more people to set better examples. Not sure if that will help but it cant hurt.

Its about time! the Japanese have been stealing patents for years and im glad to see we are finally taking a stand. The US companies spend over 1 billion many years ago developing hybrid technology, then the Japanese started to get nervous and started making them. The Americans didn't put it to use because of the same reason as other, it was to costly, but when you are a Japanese company and have access to free money you dont really care about that, its all about market share. Time to pay up Toyota!

Overrated! Thats what I say! The military and space program they can thank Russia for that!, The economy they can thank all the money grubbing multi- national companies setting up shop giving them all the know how just for the cheap labor, this years 8 percent growth is just smoke and mirrors and its from the money from their stimulus plan, funny how it just hit that magic number 8. They have way to many problems there to be called developed, I know I lived there, give them another 50 years and maybe if they dont implode first.

I'm so tired of this one sided argument. Sure The Asian countries do better on standard math tests because the study by rote and for exams, when you take that away and change the test to more lateral thinking then the scores drop. I don't feel that we have to be going to school just studying for exams like they do in Asia I don't see the benefit if you cant think outside the box and most Asians cant.

Looks like the J-companies have their work cut out reverse engineering this one! and all those billions dunped into blue-ray , what a waste! They could always pull a coup and pay bigger licensing fees then Samsung. This is just another example of the that J-companies really don't create anything.

wanderlust: I totally agree. People have been touting the Japanese business model for so long, few bad months should not do so much damage. Unless like other things we hear about , Maybe they have been inflating their books too, or as some of you really refuse to believe. Maybe the exchange rate Really does play a big part. I know Toyota makes one third of their profits from it and that calculated at a 115 rate.Take away that and the company doesn't look that good.

darkmnv: hahahha The Japanese didnt invent the hybrid, like most things they DONT invent they just were the first to market it. Like always the Japanese can afford to put out a product that loses money and not have to worry about it. The prius was losing money the first few years until they got lucky and oil went through the roof and the whole global warming scam was big, funny I dont hear anything these days of global warming.Plus hybrids are really not as great as they make them out to be.

Sangetsu: That has been the case. The fuel they have been testing in the airlines is a mix of algae and jatropa a plant from Central American with high oil content and can be grown in barren regions. They have been looking away from plant based fuels so as not disrupt the food supply.

taniwha: The Japanese can not the take the money they have in dollars in the US, if they did that would cause the yen to strengthen even more. They have know this for 30 years now that's why the money has been left there. The US knows this too, they know they have this money to use whenever they want because if the Japanese took it back it would cause a yen strengthen.

Dogdog: I agree. the Japanese companies have been ruthless in their pursuit of market share. The government and MITI were 100% aware of their actions. They decimated industries the world over and didnt care one bit about the workers or the economy of that country, there only goal was to extend the export machine.

Dog dog: I agree the Japanese companies only want to export and will restrict all imports, not only through tariffs but other measures that slows the imports and doesn't make it worth while. They don't care about anything and have devastated industries the world over and MITI and the government were intentional in these actions. Greedy and ruthless.

I think the Japan and world has been over producing for too long now. Its time to rethink the whole consumerism nature.
