12 months? What a disgrace, he should have spent years rotting in prison for disgracing the uniform and the U.S. And as this case proves again, quite a few foreigners/U.S. military receive quite lighter sentences compared to similar actions by native personnel.

That's true for you GW but my sentiments still hold for others here. Maybe outright some people wouldn't want to say, shut down or ban any negative news items, but many others I bet would act the same way.

Interesting, notice how it's considered a character "flaw" of Japanese people that they would dare express anger or indignation over articles that may show them in a negative light (never mind that no one knows exact percentage of actual Japanese who were actually angered by these Mainichi articles vice others).…
