Not quite WMD, not as simple as that. Japan is an important country due to its enormous power (wealth and all that) and also serves strategically in that area (China, North Korea, etc.). Not only from an economic standpoint of trade, but in many other world issues Japan continues to be an important country for the U.S. to deal with.

Even more amazing is that Obama's 'black' side is an African man from Kenya, not a Black American male whose ancestors have been in the U.S. for centuries. So he is truly multicultural

Yes the whole world rejoices. I have never seen this kind of emotion and electricity personally from a presidential election. Times square is packed, people are out and about and just unbelievable ecstatic and happy.

Thank goodness I voted by mail. And yes I checked online if my vote was counted, and it was. There is an inherent risk there but it beats standing in line or being told you can't vote for whatever ridiculous technicalities the pollsters give ya.

    Go Obama. Change the world.

Probably make things a bit more tourist friendly in terms of English speaking tour guides and whatnot, which was posted here on JT not too long ago. Highlight bargains including hotels and cheap eats. Contrary to what people here state, the biggest thing people ask me about Japan is if things are expensive. That's right, not once has anyone ever curious about Japan asked me about Jp "racism" or xenophobism or other ridiculous non issues. Their main concern and curiosity has been the image that Japan is too expensive which it is not if you do things properly.

Amen. The failures of the past 8 years are so close to being resolved from this evening alone. I can taste Obama's victory. Change. Go Obama.

Wonder how much longer they can keep up with the 'yes there are bombings but it's still safer than last year" schtick. At any rate, bring the troops home.

Well maybe it wasn't racist per se Dubya but when in a similar case involving a non asian victim, the shooter gets sentenced, and in the Louisiana case the guy gets acquitted, something does not add up. The shooter in Lousiana could easily have stayed inside and called the cops but like some yahoo cowboy decides to go outside, confront the guy, and blasts him. It wasn't a case of someone trying to barge inside the house. At any rate I am awaiting more details as to what exactly happened here.

It would be nice to see what the motive was for this guy to shoot these trick or treaters, as well as more details, before deciding it was "self defense." In the Hattori case in Lousiana a racist jury acquitted the shooter in the criminal trial (though the civil trial he was found liable). In a similar case not long after the Hattori case a guy that shot a 17 year old teenager from inside his house was sentenced to a few years in prison for reckless use of a firearm. So we shall see what happens.
